Depth Chart 2020

It's kinda scary seeing how small our safeties are. Particularly the backups (King and Miller). The lack of depth at LB is also scary. I was a bit worried about the d-line at the end of last season, after losing Jamahl, Lima and Leo, but I really like the players on the two-deeps that are listed. I absolutely love seeing T.J. Tampa and Daniel Jackson on the list. And Easton Dean, assuming he ends up being as good as we have heard he will be.
Here, have a dose of sunshine & rainbows

I’m not sure about this.

I suspect that Grant Treiber is the long term solution at LT. If you start Sean Foster there against Louisiana for his collection of starts and senior status, and as a reward for working hard—both of which would be a very Matt Campbell thing to do—then where do you give Grant his first start?

On the road against TCU doesn’t seem great, nor does at home against OU. I think that CMC is going to have a tough decision on that one.
Campbell doesn't play for the future, he plays for now. If Foster is currently the best one, then he will play. It means Treiber needs to step up his game to overcome him. This is about where you're at, not where you're going to be. It's also what makes Campbell great, he plays his best players.

10/11 starters and 27 of 29 listed offensive players are over 6 feet tall. We have a very large team.

And you know, we're fast where we need to be fast (WR, RB, QB).

With this many "ors" we could man a Viking longboat!!!
Obviously a lot of battles haven't been decided yet. First game will probably determine a lot for the depth chart going forward.

Seems like a lot of inexperience behind the starters.

We can go 12 personal in the red-zone with two 6'6" TE's plus Sean Shaw who is 6'6" and Xavier Hutchinson at 6'3". That is a lot of size and skill for cb's to cover. Louisiana has 2 starters in the defensive backfield that are listed at 5'9"

13 personal you can add a 6'7" Soehner to have 4 guys at or above 6'6"
Let's hope they use height to their advantage. They are always quite a bit bigger than UNI at those key matchups too, but the payoff isn't ever as great as you'd like it to be.

View attachment 75300Here is the Louisiana depth chart for the Iowa St. game. We are really thin at WR, due to a handful of injuries, and Hill at DL, who is a dog, is questionable. Regardless...looks like this game is a go and should be a good one!

Is it safe to say that Louisiana is a ground first team? ISU's defense is pretty solid against the run. Can Louisiana win without a good ground game?

If they can’t run, they will struggle to score.

I also see their projected Center for week 1 (actual starter is unlikely to play) is 267 lb. Hope we can take advantage of that.

I noticed the size of the center as well.

Lewis is definitely capable and is a good passer, but if ISU controls the LOS (I anticipate this happening) they will struggle to throw. Especially with everything lost at receiver.

Our top two lineman from last year were drafted back in April...but I’m told their replacements are solid. We will soon find out.

If the projected starter at C is indeed out, seems like that would hurt. ISU has some good size and depth on the DL.

My projection is mostly made on assuming ISU will load the box and beg ULL to try to beat them in the passing game.

Projected starter was out played by the guy listed.
