Departures?

For the most part we didn't lose depth for next year either. Just bodies on the roster that have been recruited over a time or two already.

Burton, Severs, Montgomery, Thomas, Brown, and Knott were all on the depth chart. Even though some were just bc of injury it still hurts for next year. Injuries happen as you know and to have experienced backups is a big bonus.

Burton and Knott were due to injury, that's a little different. Montgomery is at a stacked position, Thomas and Brown have been replaced. Brown wasn't going to play much of at all, and we won't miss the production Thomas gave us. We have guys just as capable of not more capable of converting his one yard runs, and probably with less attempts.

None of these losses are game changers.

Burton and Knott departures hurt. But they would not be able to play anyway. Career ending injuries. They happen. Brown, Thomas, D'Vario, and Severs will affect depth. But are not devastating.

One year ago we lost our projected starting Tailback Nealy and a 2-deep WR Ecby. We also lost short yardage back Syria last summer. IMO, we did not miss them much.

I expect us to have more leave our team due to graduation and also injury. Guys like Ayeni, possibly Luna, Kane Seeley, Mitchell Myers. And then you have some more attrition due to spots on the depth chart and football future. Like Dom DeLira, for example, does he stay or go if he is #4 on the depth chart after spring ball? Or does he transfer out to a Juco and be a player after a year there with 3 years to play 3? We could see situations like that IMO.

We have many talented replacements coming in. We should be okay.

well sure, as long as the people in front of them on the depth chart stay healthy

I guess I would ask this question of people who are upset about 10 guys leaving the team.

Which 10 of the new guys should we not have signed?

We aren't losing Mitchell Myers assuming his treatment continues to go well. That has been confirmed by him, was the first call Campbell made.

Cliche but we're hopefully replacing them with PROGRAM changers. Feel bad for the warriors that are hanging it up due to injury...

Sad to see Luke Knott hang it up. Seemed like he was a smart, tough player who couldn't stay healthy. Luckily though, we seem to have quite a bit of depth at linebacker this year. Harris, Jones, Harvey, Northrup, Peters, Seonbuchner, Mills, and the two guys coming off of redshirt years in Spears and McMillen.

Hopefully this strategy of letting a receiver with a huge size advantage gets utilized with this staff. I remember Lanning coming in and throwing that first TD pass to Lazard, who was single covered, only to have CPR say it was a ball he shouldn't have thrown.

I actually somewhat agreed with CPR. The coverge was really good by the DB. Could have easily been an INT. Lazard just made a great catch and Lanning threw a lazer. Ended up working out for the best.

I agree with you. Only credit I will Lanning on the throw is how much velocity he put on the ball. Probably the only reason it wasn't intercepted, other than Allen making an incredible play of course.

People can't really be surprised by people leaving....we're still like 10 scholarships over max for next year. People literally have to leave.
