I’m a lifelong Iowan, a lifelong Cyclone fan, legacy alum, and tailgated games for a few decades now.

I must report that I was today years old when I first heard the term “kybo”. Is this a southern Iowa thing? Never heard them called anything but a port-a-potty/john.

Also, apparently something called “Haunted Forest” exists near JTS. Cool.

It’s a new day, I feel so enlightened!

You must tailgate pretty hard according to this. Do you remember games?

After a night game a few years ago as we normally park in the Haunted Forest, I kinda remember being down by the river (cue in Chris Farley) taking a leak. We were parked on the north side by the river. I have no idea how I got down there. Neither did anyone in our group. Yeah I was kinda trashed at the time.

The thing that really pissed me of a couple years ago for the Iowa game was the Iowa Alumni Association reserved a large tent there. I guess it's all about the money! I drive by their quite often and then did actually spend some money to grade the lot and bring some dirt int and seed it down.

If they wanted to be dicks about it, there is one thing ISU could do about it possibly. Pending on where the property line is and what easements there are, ISU could shut done G6 and G7 (which they did basically all last season) to pave or repair the drive. Only access they have is through the same access 6 and 7 have. Not sure exactly who owns or what the agreements are, but have a grader come in and peel up the gravel to G6 and you effectively kill their entrance.

Do not think I am suggesting they should do this, just responding that if ISU wanted to get pisssy with them, here is their probable option.
Desperate times, desperate measures.

I too am a life long Iowan. I had never heard the term kybo until my brother brought his girlfriend who grew up in ankeny home, I think I was 16 at the time. I think the term is most used in then ankeny area will fewer people using it the further you get from ankeny. With a few exceptions.

I don't understand how you could be tailgating for a few decades and never have heard someone refer to it as a kybo though.

Totally family-friendly tailgates here! And by family-friendly I mean food, games, yelling at my phone for Verizon not having any service, and the rest of the extended non-drinking family glaring at the wife and I with the "whiskey for breakfast?" look of astonishment in their eyes.

With that said, our tailgating spot never crossed over to the east side of Elwood Dr (RIP). It went from the grass practice fields immediately west of JTS (long before Bergstrom existed). When they kicked fans out of there it bounced back and forth between Scheman and Towers for ages, and we finally caved a few years ago and paid the man and stick around Hilton now.

...

You and me both.
