Went on CR and looked at the database of DT recruits.
A bunch of guys previously on the list are not there any more. Only one DT recruit is listed, Kasey Smith. So either we are done recruiting DT's or something else is up. I was really hoping for a big run stuffer. Perhaps Chizik is having CR pull the plug so that any potential DT recruits won't be recognized by rival schools and gone after.

Covered this earlier....everyone is under the assumpton that we are going to turn some DEs or OLs or TEs into DLinemen.

I don't believe Chizik would ask someone not to report something. Doesn't seem his style. He does his job and they do theirs.

Speaking of defense, seen Coach Bolt at Prairie Meadows tonight up about 1500 on the night of what I seen. Had a huge dip in his lip and just having a grand ol time

A couple weeks ago, my son-in-law was playing blackjack next to Chizik. He was really impressed with Chizik. Said he was funny and seemed like a great guy. Chizik had a couple beers while he played. I think our program is in great hands.

As long as he wasn't drinking Natural Light with any co-eds

Are the recruits all at the casino? Or do our coaches go only during the dead period?

Wow... imagine being at a casino with Chizik and Bolt, throwin back a few beers and slingin' some cards.

Pollard should auction off a night like that on Cyclones.com. Who wouldnt pay to do that?

FYI - If and its an IF, ADRIN HAUGHTON will not be on the OL, i think he's our stud DT that everyones looking for.....he was OL,DL and i think with the other OL recruits, he just don't fit the mold of what our OL recruits have been.

I see A-D jackin some people up from the middle.......He gets in and under Shep, could be awakening a giant......

Love to see big, athletic DT - seem to engage, shed and cause discomfort to any qb that cannot step up in the pocket because its closing from the inside out.....

Can't wait to see him in the new duds......

Really? I think he's similar to Osemele and Baysinger--and more than a little like Stephens and Tibbs. Plus, remember that 5.32 40 time was a combine time, not a "claimed" time.

With ends growing into tackles, and the youngsters moving up, we might be okay at defensive tackle for now.

I'm more worried about a rush end--losing Marshall hurt.

The reason the number went down was Paul 'thinned out' the database to reflect who ISU is really in on. I don't think he would mind me passing this info along.

I totally agree here. I feel like there has to be somebody (Bailey Johnson, Tate, Weir, Frere) that can do a good job in the middle. Robertson, McDonough, or Guillory wouldn't surprise me to move inside, and I think they could all do well on the end with Hammerschmidt. I just don't know where a Berryman-esque pass rusher will come from. I think we have a lot of guys that can be solid and good run defenders, I just don't see a pass rusher.

I have some hope that Chris Lyle can step up. It seems like JUCO's have difficulty adjusting their first year. Hopefully with a year in the program and weight room he can give us a consistent pass rush, with Parker spelling him. Lyle definitely has the build for it, but he needs to recognize his potential. It would seem that the staff agrees as we are not heavily pursuing a JUCO rush end.

Wow, I honestly kind of forgot about Lyle. Hopefully he can get there. I know the staff was very high on him in recruitment. He'll just be a junior next year as well, right?

Yeah, he will be only a junior, same class as Parker. I would love to see him playing at around 260 next year. He definitely looked lanky this past season while weighing 245, he would seem to have the room to add weight.

The staff was very high on him, Chizik called him the best JUCO rush end in the country.

I agree, it really hurt us with Marshall, he was a prototype end....too bad we will see him in a KU jersey, now i have to hope for Big Trey to pound him into submissions....

By the way, don't compare Big Trey and Haughton....two way different athletes....Big Trey will be our bookend tackle with Grant for the next couple years. Don't get me wrong, i think Haughton is a great get....and i agree he does remind me of Tibbs and Stephens, but, i'm guessing that between Carpenter, Osemele, Baysinger - we will have 2-3 starters for years to come.....Big Frames, Osemele is sized to be inside, Carpenter and Baysinger outside and I see Haughton just fitting the prototype DT size, speed, and strong.....a real force....

Don't be surprised if we make a late push for and maybe even get Bedford.....i agree, our dbs regardless of how good they are will be abused if our DL cannot generate pressure without adding 1-2 linebackers - opening up the middle for those short drag routes that Kansas, Missouri, Colorado and many others like to run against us....they know our front cannot generate pressure.....Remember though, these guys have been in the system for a year, better overall knowledge of the schemes and size from Shep....I expect our team to vastly improved in overall concepts and techniques.....and our talent level IMO is improving by each commit that Chiz and staff receives.....

High hopes for Feb. 6 for a big surprise.......who will it be....

Kendrick Payne - a DT we had been recruiting for some time has signed with Cal. Back to our guys....

It will be a bummer if Kellman is not able to play....i thought he could be a real sleeper....great speed, and size, could be the DE that we need.

Looking at our 2 recruiting classes we have:

DE
Kellman
Lyle
Robertson
McDonough
Guillory
Supposedly Edwards

DT
Tate
Weir
Black
Still my guess that Haughton will be lining up here

I know losing Marshall was a big loss, and i wish him nothing but a bad career at UK...but, the more i see Robertson, the more i see the potential of a serious rush end....He may have the skillz necessary to apply pressure....If we get any rush out of the ends, i think our interior lineman will apply pressure.

Our secondary is really taking shape....now if we can get Douglas and Wright and lets throw Bo Williams in there, we will have a class to be excited about.....
