Dear Matt Campbell,

For f***s sake. There's no question this was about money for players and staff to compete, not his salary. This is solely on our fanbase not being able to come remotely close to what it takes in the current landscape.

Remember not to long ago when it was accepted that this was 1 of 4 schools along with OSU, Norte Dame and Michigan that he would take?

Edit: I deserve these dumbs. I'll stand by us as fans being cheap as a problem, but this is clearly on Jamie based on news from the premium board.

Sorry, you feel betrayed. WVU lost RROD and he was a born and raised coal miner's son who actually played his college football for WVU. Yeah it stings, but MC was loyal--beyond all measure to be honest. He turned down NFL jobs.
Bill Snyder turned down every significant job in the country in both college and the NFL a majority of his time at K-State. It can be done.

I believe I stated that a few times on here. Penn State is about Five hrs from all his family. I'm sure that was important. Those who say it was money are stupid. NIL money yes, money for staff yes. Money for him, nope, not a factor. By the way, I saw the same bogus meltdown by Toledo fans when he came to ISU. Guess what, that program has done even a little better at times then CMC did there. Maybe THE PROCESS will continue and the next guy will keep bumping it upward. I wish you all well and hope ISU keeps moving upward like never before. My only regret was not coming to a game. Pretty stupid that I never did when I could of had great seats and field passes. But, you all way out west and us midwesterners just don't like to travel that far west. I will be stoked when you all make the playoffs in the future.

5 hours from family is not that big of a difference than 18 when you can get on a jet and fly there. And how much free time do you think this guy has? He's got kids in school - I don't buy the "family" angle here.

If so, he doesn't do this in the dark of night like he did.

dark of the night ....so dramatic. You know he has staff from Ohio. Maybe the staff can pay for routine flights, but can most extended relatives. I couldn't. Tried it with one kid playing at Toledo and one kid playing on the East Coast the same two years. Almost went broke flying all over the damn country. He gave ISU a great 10 years. I always thought The OSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Penn State were the only college jobs that could get him to leave ISU. I hope ISU breaks into the playoffs. I think with the fast hire, things could keep getting better. You hired a good coach.

That was 20-30 years ago. Things have changed.

Absolutely dumpster equivalency.
No it isn't, its always been the same. Strip away all the NIL, transfer portal excuses and it comes down to ego, prestige, money, and wanting a bigger challenge in their profession, in no particular order.

Some coaches are content like Snyder and Ferentz, others like Campbell aren't.

Why do you think Kiffin dumped a national title contender he built for Baton Rouge?

Yes it certainly has and don’t compare Snyder’s second stint. No one was calling for him. He was a coach originally from 89-05. That is 20-30 years ago. To say the game hasn’t changed even since 2018 when he left his caretaker stint is completely asinine.

So did Ferentz. I appreciate what he did here, but don't preach about integrity when you sign a gro6of recruits then leave the next day. That is not Integrity.
What was his other options if he was offered the job. Not take it? Would you do that if you wanted the new job. Doubt it. I always enjoyed the nut cup stories on here. Sounds like you need to get yours out so the stress can be relieved.....it does work that way, doesn't it? I wish ISU well and think 8-9 wins a year will continue.

I don't get this response at all. Matt built ISU to a level of winning it's never been at during a difficult 10 years. We should thank him

Is a coach only good if he stays until he dies? Why are we mad he made decision to go to a bigger football school in a bigger conference? It's not like he left to go to Iowa. Being mad at Matt is crazy, short sided, and dumb after all he did for ISU these past 10 years

Altoona back away from the keyboard. You've obviously moved on from denial to anger.

Matt thanks for giving your all while at ISU and having high character. I wish you were staying, but wish you the best. You reached higher highs then ever experience here before. Hopfully your achievements will be eclipsed by the next staff.

Remember Toledo felt the same way at one point.

With all due respect spare me the dream job slop. Heard that when we were the first school to give Houberg his break in coaching. His dream job until his real dream with the Bulls came up oh and then the Nebraska Cornhuskers. These people peddle propaganda for a living until someone comes along with more $$$. Funny how quickly dreams change.
Hoiberg always always stated his ultimate goal was the NBA. You just didn't listen.

Good to see you around here again.

Neither Pennsylvania or Ohio are Midwest Though. East coast weirdos.
