It's clearly unacceptable behavior, no dispute. We've had great success under Fred with players who have transgressed elsewhere. They've been fine here. I'm sure Fred will make him wear a scarlet 'T' on his uniform to appease Hawk fans.
Can anyone vouch for Kane's defense? Stats say he averaged 1.8 steals per game. Sounds like a candidate to guard the PG!
Gotta love it. We are talking about our 3rd straight trip to the NCAA tournament while Iowa fans are hoping this is the year for them. They must be so happy they did it the "right" way.
Yeah, I just wonder how many times you can roll the dice on players like this before something bad happens. Spitting on a fan, beating a guy while someone holds him...not worth the risk, imo.
Well, so far I'd say Fred is batting 1.000. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. If Fred hadn't proven already that he is good with players across the "mental" spectrum, then I see your argument a little bit. But now you are grasping for straws.
Could Kane end up doing something wrong? Sure, will he? Who knows, stop trying to come on here and spew your concerns. Fred definitely knows about his past transgressions, and I guarantee Fred knows 1000x more than you or I, or anyone here knows about Kane. Stop being a *********.
Glad you are not an ISU coach. CFH taking risks has ISU MBB approaching an all time high and things don't appear to be slowing down. Next season is going to be nuts. I'd say so far that CFH's gambles have been, by definition, worth the risk.
How much risk do you think the Hokeyes would've taken on if they knew they could've made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA's two of the first three years under Fran rather than...well, you know, doing nothing of importance. Hell, Fran tried to sign a JUCO who actually spent time in prison because he thought it might make his team slightly better.
I agree with the "he could be a problem crowd" but if fred trusts him, and I trust fred, then Im good.
i think you should revisit EIU's history with players. Pierce rings a bell of bringing a player back into the fold after doing some pretty bad things a girl. Fred Hoiberg has had stellar judgement so far and if someone screws up, he boots them (calvin godfrey)
He only needs to keep his nose clean for about 10 months + him knowing that he has a shot at professional basketball = not worried.
publications are largely crediting Matt Abdelmassih for this one. Matt seems to have been playing an increasingly important role in the operations of this team. I love listening to Matt Abdelmassih talk basketball with Chris Williams on CF. I find Abdelmassih's comments insightful and somewhat unfiltered compared to what we may typically get from assistant coaches in Central Iowa, and I find it refreshing. I'm happy for his success and the program in general. Cornell Mann has done a nice job with the Michigan players as well. Hope our remaining assistants keep up the good work and hopefully can stick around for a while.
