DeAndre Kane visiting next week

Awesome! If he falls in line and doesn't try to do too much when we play in the big games, I think he will be great for this team, poor shooting or not.

I see alot of Hawk fans tweeting about his NCAA high techincal fouls last season, his spitting on a fan, and assault and battery charges from a few years back. Im assuming this has been discussed in this thread, but Im not going through 40 pages to make sure.

They recruited a felon, like they have room to talk.

Yep, it was discussed. Fred's approval wins.

There is going to be some intense competition at nearly every spot in practice this year.

It's great having high quality options instead of trying to fill holes.

Kane was playing out of position at Marshall by playing the point. With Bubu, Long, and Monte here, I don't think it should be assumed at all that he will play the point. He may play it some, but he can be used as a 2 or even a 3 also.
.
“The coaches talked to me about playing the point,” the 6-foot-4 Kane said. “That’s great with me.”

The Hawks are butthurt cause well they cannot get talent like we can and plus today they found out they are the worst sports team in the B1G.

I am soooo ******* pumped he committed here, we are really looking good just hope it all comes together!! If I could high five Fred and staff right now I would.

That's correct. Suddenly, this changes the whole complexity of things. Anything but the NCAA Tournament with our team next season will be a failure. Totally agree that the addition of Kane makes it probable that ISU makes the NCAA Tournament. Kane could play at the next level after his
collegiate career concludes. He is that good!
Getting Kane is great, but anything but making the tournament a failure? Missing the tournament would be a disappointment, but is still a plausible outcome considering what we lost.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Kane is the main PG next year. It wouldn't surprise me at all if our lineup at the start of conference play is this:

Monte
Kane
Thomas
Ejim
Niang

I could see this. Getting Kane gives us more flexibility, not only because he can play any of three spots for Fred, but IMO he makes it easier to go big at the wing/3. Going with Kane and a freshman in the backcourt sounds a lot better than two freshmen or a freshman and bubu. Although I think we still see a lot of three guard lineups, it will be to take advantage of matchups.

I'm impressed with Fred and the staff. We are so used to missing on recruits that are key to bump us a level. Fred seems to be damn good at getting the pivotal kids into the program.

Once he and the staff really set their sights on someone - they most often end up in Ames.

That's even smaller than last year. I would like it if Ejim is good enough at the 3, and one of the bigs is good enough to start at the 5, even if they don't go with that lineup for more than 10 minutes total.

This is great news. Having thought about our probable lineup. Obviously some wont agree, but with that starting lineup and Monte, Thomas and Amardi off the bench make me giddy.
PG: Kane / Monte / Bubu / Naz
SG: SDW / Thomas / Bluford
SF: Hogue / Ejim
PF: Ejim / Niang
PF: Niang / Amardi/ Percy / Edozie
