Has anyone mentioned the possibility of hiring Charlie Henry? I am sure it has been and I just haven't seen it.

Which means it's the 'budgeted' donations mentioned in the original comment. So, basically, we're robbing Peter to pay Paul. I just wonder what Peter had it allotted to.

No, it really doesn't. This is a done deal. They're just waiting until the final loss to announce it.
Seems like everyone with any kind of connections is clear on that.

I saw someone in here estimate it would cost 15-20 million to make a coaching change considering buyouts at ISU and at another school plus all the assistants etc. I have no idea what basketball revenue is, but that would take a lot of years to make up would be my guess
It would be far less than that. The key number also is the difference between this year and next year. Total buyout on our side is something like $5 million. The difference from this year and next year is somewhere in the $1 million to $1.5 million range. The decrease in ticket sales and other revenue is likely going to be close or exceed that amount.

Especially if we have donations to do it we have to make the move. You have to make the financials work.

Wouldn't want to be JP. Funds are enormously tight. Budgeted funds, most likely, altered extensively. So, finding funds for buyout are slim to none. Prohm not likely to bow out of the contract. So, JP is backed into a corner by vicious dogs who don't even want a bone. Creative thinking might be hire DD as associate coach (replacing one [or more] of the other assistant coaches) with guarantee to take over as head coach upon Prohm's existing contract expiring. Just a thought, but given current circumstances, this type of thinking is what might be required.
You took creative thinking to a different level!

If these buyout numbers are accurate, it will definitely happen after this season. I thought early on it was a bad year to judge a coach by, and next year would be the final hurrah. Things have gone so poorly I've changed my tune on that. Maybe Hoiberg will be available. ;) (Bad, bad idea)

Negotiate why? You see that when a coach does something stupid that is a breach of contract to avoid litigation, but Prohm hasn't done anything like that. There is nothing compelling him to negotiate his buyout.
It is already negotiated and done

Hard to believe Prohm will be replaced after this season but I would be ok with it and i have been somewhat of an apologist. JP loved Dan but when he saw revenues and attendance continue to fall he did what he had to do so maybe this is a similar situation. Can you imagine the lack of enthusiasm and ticket sales going into next season if no change is made? Don't feel sorry for any D1 coach losing their jobs they make plenty of money.

And why did Prohm negotiate his buyout when he would have no reason to do so? I'm still waiting for someone to explain this to me.

Yeah, it sounds like a weird thing to do. Pre-emptively accepting a parting of ways at season's end is one thing, but what's there to negotiate? I guess there's something to say about technically leaving on your own terms (resigning -vs- being canned) but the public perception and end result is the exact same, so uh....just accept your full buyout. JP will get the money - that's a non-issue.

He wouldn't unless Pollard has some pictures of him kissing up to some coeds on a road trip or something that none of us know about. Some people on here are living in fantasy land.
