I have got a bit of heat for this, but want to explain.

Yes, KU in basketball has dominated the Big 8 and Big XII for decades. Texas and OU football (OU especially) have countless conference titles (SWC, Big 8/Big XII), but I look at it from a National Title standpoint.

The way the sports media hypes up these schools makes you think historically they have won the National Title every other year or every few years.

Hell, I just found out the other day that the 2002 Ohio State BCS Championship was their first Title since 1970. Yes, they have dominated in the 21st Century, but what the f***?! 32 years?!

That's why I made the KU basketball/Texas football comparison. Especially with KU's two of their five National Titles being back in the 1920s. As we all know, "The Phog" is just another gym.

Texas is seemingly always "back" but then they fall on their face.

As Cyclone fans/alums, we will take what we can get (that sounds bad, but you know what I mean), but in my mind you can put up 30+ win seasons in basketball/10+ wins in football every year, but if you don't win the The Big One consistently enough, then how good are you really?
Texas has one natty in 54 years, but hearing the media, you wouldn’t know It.

I would be interested to watch this unfold. Having a little bit of insight into Thibs time in Minnesota I have to believe that Thibs demeanor off the (game) court both on the practice court and in every other interaction fed into a Conference Finals coach immediately getting the boot. His toxic way of interacting with pretty much everyone has to be a culture killer.

Will Hurley's temperment be an issue or not? He is obviously a wildcard from the outside, but by most reports his teams love him. As I said it would/will be interesting to see this play out.

According to Dan Patrick this morning, former Nuggets coach Michael Malone seems to be the early frontrunner. He's won a title, grew up in the area, and is a former Knicks assistant.
He’d be a slam dunk hire for them, his system would fit that roster very well.

The eccentric, over the top personalities don't ever seem to work in the Pros. In college, guys are in an out of your program in 1-2, 4 years tops, plus they are young.
Pros that are with a team 5+ years, and are adults doing a job, would get tired of his antics, in my opinion.

Also remember that coaches are a bit more of a star in the college game than the pro game. In college it is still rare that a high level coach has player(s) making more than him. In the pros, it is pretty much a given.
