Hop on any Ames facebook group and mention any new development in town. I mean anything, no matter how big or small and wait for the townies to scream their head off because whatever it is, it isn't exactly 100% the thing THEY want. It's just Ames for some reason.Man we have more idiots in our crowd than I care to admit. Kind of sad, but comes with becoming a bigger institution and fan base.

I'm convinced 80% of them believe that the city of Ames picks and chooses what chain restaurants come rather than someone deciding to buy land and open a franchise.Hop on any Ames facebook group and mention any new development in town. Any town’s FB group attracts high activity from the bottom 1%. Followed closely by Twitter with the next 1%. Getting close to there with some folks on the free board of this site. Discovered Ge Angelos when I was in college and my parents were visiting. One of my favorite spots in Ames that I feel like most people don't know about. Also in north Ames is Ge Angelos. Reminds me of neighborhood family run Italian restaurants in south St. Louis. Pizza is quite good.

Ames would cram all of those on S Duff tooWhy can't Ames have an IKEA, a Trader Joe's, a surf shop, a Mall of America, and that old restaurant from the 70's I enjoyed?
But seriously, I do miss a lot of places that have closed since I've lived here. So I do get nostalgic and whiny from time to time.
When I was at ISU it was the "new mall". People bitched about that thing even after it was clear it wasn't going to happen. Granted it was a bad idea, especially in hindsight of what has happened to malls in the last 20 years.Hop on any Ames facebook group and mention any new development in town. And those of us who frequent Ankeny Blvd appreciate your avoidance.I’m not from Ames and I avoid Duff, just like I avoid Ankeny Blvd in Ankeny..
Trader Joe's will be in Ankeny before it's in AmesWhy can't Ames have an IKEA, a Trader Joe's, a surf shop, a Mall of America, and that old restaurant from the 70's I enjoyed?
