Cyhawk postgame thread

I think they will be 6-5 going into the game against Nebraska. Same wins you listed plus Wisconsin. I don't think Fickell knows how to handle Ferentzball.

Indiana has historically struggled with the same problem, but its difficult to see Iowa beating them with their putrid offense.

I’ll give Indiana the benefit of the doubt. Last year is the first year they were good and they didn’t play Iowa. That coach is legit and should coach circles around Ferentz.

Edit: looks like Iowa and Indiana have only played once in the last 6 years.

that McNamara and Gronowski are not lousy QBs, but their system destroys QBs, specifically their confidence and decision making

The odds that an FBS team could recruit 5 inept quarterbacks in succession seems quite remote. Solid evidence that Iowa is ruining them somehow.

If Gronowski stayed at SDSU and they played Albany, he would likely throw for 250+ yards and several TDs.

Well, that's not really true at all. He said it's "the Iowa Super Bowl", as in the state of Iowa, and he's not really off with that observation (especially for an out of state guy attending his first CyHawk game).

You are right. It just looked odd, until you read it again.

Nah he made more throws than that but SDSU’s offense was just better than this Iowa one. And like I said his team was better given the context.

He wasn’t some “God” or anything like that though. He was just a quality FCS QB. FCS also has seen a tremendous drop off in quality between higher level teams and the rest. When he played some of the better teams he wasn’t passing the ball that well.

This. His history is impressive, no doubt. But with the transfer portal, FCS football has been dropping in quality. The best players transfer up and the competition is getting watered down.

Personally, that kid is not going to last the season if Iowa relies on him to run so much.

He got smoked a couple of times and came up grimacing. It's only a matter of time before he's out with injury.

I agree and him coming off of shoulder surgery doesn’t help with his durability either. He’s ran the ball two fewer times than Abu Sama has and Abu has another game on Mark.

On this crucial play, all five of the Iowa lineman had the opportunity to turn and watch their QB get taken to the ground. Rare that all 5 get to enjoy the show. Usually they would be busy doing something.

btw, we had a QB spy called. Worked beautifully.

Was really worried that our #19 hurt his ankle at the end of that play!

Actually only 4-6, but those 4 wins are in the last 5 games against ranked teams. Prior to that, we had lost 9 in a row vs ranked opponents.

In reverse chronological order:
2025 season
W #17 KSU
2024 season
W #15 Miami
L #12 ASU
W #21 Iowa
2023 season
W #19 KSU
L #7 Texas
L #22 Kansas
2022 season
L #4 TCU
L #22 Texas
L #20 KSU

Here are all our games against (AP) ranked opponents in the Campbell era: https://stathead.com/tiny/vy70u
5-5, You missed KSU was ranked 24th when we beat them last year. Not sure why its not showing on the site you list.
