Cyhawk postgame thread

You are saying a lot of his FCS highlights are throwing to wide open guys on crossing routes?
Nah he made more throws than that but SDSU’s offense was just better than this Iowa one. And like I said his team was better given the context.

He wasn’t some “God” or anything like that though. He was just a quality FCS QB. FCS also has seen a tremendous drop off in quality between higher level teams and the rest. When he played some of the better teams he wasn’t passing the ball that well.

I think Iowa is probably to finish in the 7-5 to 9-3 category. Average Big 10 team. Gronowski may be wasted in their system, but he does have the ability to pick up yards with his feet, and can throw the ball better than his stats would indicate. They still need to find someone to throw it to though. Another boring AF Iowa team to watch.

I wouldn’t be shocked at that. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see them finish 5-7 or something. Their schedule is not favorable.

Fake ID of college football baby....

Pretty sure we’d be like 6-4 or 7-3 in our last ten vs ranked. I know we are 2-0 just in our latest four games played or 2-1 in latest five games.

Is it accurate that Iowa's QB is getting 2 million dollars? That's nuts, if true.

On the Hassel reaction show Andrew Downs was actually really funny complaining about how Iowa pays millions to bring in bad quarterbacks but ISU “just finds the best quarterback in the big 12 lying around in their pile of quarterbacks”.

Pretty sure Bret has outwardly said he’s not interested in going there.

Big money fans I know (I try to limit my exposure to them) want Woods next. I'm hoping they do and get a John Blake at OU hire.

They certainly aren’t in big name coach territory. Maybe someone that’s old and washed. They would be in the “hottest coordinator from Big 10 or SEC” territory is my guess.

My money is on Pat Fitzgerald to be Iowa's next HC.

Iowa Hok football sets the sport back 100 years with that style of play. If the refs had called that game properly, this game was a 2 score win for sure. We know holding happens on pretty much every play, but holy Hannah it was so obvious (and right in front of the ref's face) and they still let it slide.

I think he already resides on the seat, win or else.
Fair. Perhaps it's more of a case of how hot is the seat. I think they'll be 4-0 going into that @ILL/MICH/@ND stretch. He goes 1-2 there and then reels off three straight after that @NEB/NW/IOWA and the're 8-2, probably top 15ish going on the road to Oregon before finishing with an awful UCLA team. I think 9-3 is enough to keep his job. 8-4 might start to get dicey.

I see no possible way they only lose 2 more games to finish 9-3. Where do their wins come from:

Guaranteed - UMASS
Probable - Michigan State, Minnesota? Rutgers?
Toss up - at Wisconsin
Slight underdogs - at Nebraska, Indiana
Minimal chance - Penn State, Oregon, at USC

I see 5-6 wins likely and to get more than that’s they’ll have to upset someone and beat ranked teams which they haven’t done in half a decade.
Certainly possible, I hadn't looked at their schedule. I still stand by the average Big 10 team though.

Not really important, but I'd flip Minnesota and Wisconsin in this group list. Minnesota has looked great against bad competition. Wisconsin has looked mediocre to bad so far.

Actually only 4-6, but those 4 wins are in the last 5 games against ranked teams. Prior to that, we had lost 9 in a row vs ranked opponents.

4-1 in the last 5, so that is the metric I choose to believe is most important.
