I had repressed that...S***, I almost had forgotten about that.![]()
First you have to want to drink that cesspool.
Ames Lager is better than a lot of lagers? What is your beer of choice?
Cyclone Friend, are you a beer snob? Cool. Ames Lager is generating NIL income for our players. That's good, right? I would try it and drink it if it was in our area. If I didn't like it, I would probably keep that to myself.Because of availability I usually go with Yuengling. Ames lager isn’t even close.

Yuengling is ass. It's in the same "pretentious alternative to Miller Lite" category as Spotted Cow. I said what I said.Because of availability I usually go with Yuengling. Ames lager isn’t even close.
If Ames lager was available here I would buy it. I’ve never had it, what would you compare it to?Yuengling is ass. It's in the same "pretentious alternative to Miller Lite" category as Spotted Cow. I said what I said.
I agree with your light macrobeer ratings to a T. When I disparage Yuengling (and Spotted Cow) I'm using some hyperbole, but they legitimately aren't worth paying a premium for, which you almost always have to. If Miller/Coors is $3 and Yuengling is $4 I'm going to take the Miller/Coors all day every day. In fact, I'd say Miller/Coors are more refreshing, which IMO is the whole reason to drink those beers, so I tend to choose those even at the same price. If a beer is going to have a bit more body and a touch more flavor, I'll just bypass that and step up to something like a Moon Man or Tropicalia. If Ames lager was available here I would buy it. But, I disagree. Yuengling is probably the best large commercial beer. In my opinion. If I’m at a place that only has the main brands. I’ll pick the Yuengling first. Miller lite second. If bud light is the only option I’ll take water. Bud light is literally the worst most popular beer ever produced
Another 7-3 victory for Iowa (where Iowa doesn't score a TD)?Nah. Their defense and special teams will. Expect another pick six or a punt return to the house. Our defense will hold up well against their offense, but wear down after four quarters and eventually give up a late score.
I think Yuengling is usually the same price as the other domestics around here, but I guess I don’t really pay attention. Of course, I’m on the east coast so it’s much more available than other parts of the country. I’ll have to look and see if it is indeed at a premium.I agree with your light macrobeer ratings to a T. Regarding Ames Lager, I'd say it's right in line with the typical "Light American Lager" from a smaller brewery. Easy drinking, but wholly unremarkable. Behind Miller/Coors just a touch, but ahead of things like Natty and Boxer.
With most of these beers, they're pretty darn close to one another and most of the debate is just picking nits. Except for Bud Light, that stuff has always been hot garbage water.
When I was in Ohio last year I picked up a 12 pack of Yuengling for the same cost as Coors/Miller/Bud at the gas station I stopped at on the way to Athens.I think Yuengling is usually the same price as the other domestics around here, but I guess I don’t really pay attention. I am a self admitted craft beer, IPA snob and most places have at least some option so I haven’t bought a domestic unless I have too.
My rankings of domestics:
1) Yuengling
2) Miller lite
3) Coors Light
4) Lemonade
5) Water
6) Busch light
7) Ultra light
8) toilet water
9) Bud light
Their reputation may be inflated due to availability, but I don't think liking Spotted Cow or Yuengling is pretentious. They are both decent beers. No need for the hot take routine if you don't like them.Yuengling is ass. It's in the same "pretentious alternative to Miller Lite" category as Spotted Cow. I said what I said.
As far as late hits go, that's nothing. I always thought this should have been whistled on the first play from scrimmage against Nebraska. He drags him another 10 yards and throws him to the ground all after the whistle clearly blows repeatedly. So the question I have is this. The line we have all been fed is that the whistle was blown when the runner was at the 31? yard line. That is why they couldn't review it. If the play was in fact dead there then shouldn't that be a late it when he was shoved out at the 2? Could have at least given us half the yards they screwed us out of.
I think everyone got too comfortable between 2020 and 2021. In 2021, we looked like a team that didn’t put in the work. With so many returning starters again, we can’t be that way. This team needs to be hungry and every guy needs to push to be better. Competition is key, I hope there is still competition despite the number of returning players.

This may or may not just be an excuse to post this video which I do at every available opportunity...
