It was awesome. I hope like hell he stays around the football program. That’s a guy you build a statue for.
I think we got a good one but it’s too bad Jon wasn’t 15 years younger because I would have loved to see him as a head coach.
Might have been my favorite CW pod. Would love to hear more pods with the professor where he helps breakdown what he sees for futureISU football games.
I really hope Rogers tries to keep Heacock close to the program.

Heacock is a statue guy. He embodies what we all think being a Cyclone/Iowa Stater means. On this interview he is so candid and puts everything into perspective.
I'd pitch in for something like this. Heacock as Mr. Roarke and you know who as Tattoo.

I don't know about a statue, but I'm definitely referring to the last 10 years of Iowa St. football as the Heacock era.

I'm just about done with it now. Heacock is an amazing man. No wonder people want to play for him.
I think he's going to be around Ames for a while. I don't know if he'd be interested, but it'd be awesome to get him on a podcast a couple times during the season to get his takes on the team.
To his early rising - we were in the same hotel at the bowl last year. My youngest gets up super early so we’d just head down to the pool and hang so the rest of the family could sleep. It’d be me, my 7 year old screaming like a banshee and Heacock just hanging by the pool.
I didn’t want to bug him but I did talk to him a bit and there couldn’t have been a nicer guy.

We were also at the same hotel last year (and that hotel was just incredible). The Iowa State fans cleared out Sunday morning but we had one more day. My sister and I were at the pool early before pretty much anyone and Jon was down there in the hot tube. We didn’t talk to him but I’m sure he was feeling good.
If we would have played in a bowl game he was the guy I wanted as interim HC.
