So CBS put out their playoff projections tonight with Utah winning the Big XII, and Iowa State as an 8th Seed vs Penn State as a 9th Seed in Ames.
This got me wondering. Taking away Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska from the 80's/90's as conference foes, when was the last time we ever had a "Blue Blood" in Ames?
Now, I personally don't consider Penn State a Blue Blood, but they are hyped to hell and back so much every year, that the casual fan might actually consider them as such, and the media would consider this a big time power vs an up and comer in the Playoff.
Obviously Paterno had all his now tainted success (two national titles in the 80's, and "unclaimed" National Titles in 81 and 94), but I don't consider them a Blue Blood.
Perhaps I'm being ignorant?
