Since 1 is yesterday's, and 2 is today's, the answer is both are the driver's.

I voted for 2 because, when I drive, that’s the one I want. I think the best answer is that the driver gets first choice.

Clearly this the right answer.

I chose 2 in the poll because to me it is much easy to grab if both are in use. If only one is in use I’m more apt to use 1 though.

I say 2 because I learned on stick and still love to have my hand on the shifter and still prefer that style over new shifting buttons/dials.
So the drink would be closer to me.

2. Closer to the driver and is the first one your hand touches when you reach. For 1 you have to awkwardly reach over the other which requires more focus/thought not to spill and should be left to the passenger .
