Yeah my guy is 9, only done one tourney but he did win all 3 matches, two by pin. I'll be honest I don't think he has the mentality for it - he's kind of too empathetic of a person for it. More than that though I don't think my wife has the mentality for it. ;)

There is a whole family of girls who wrestle in our program, in fact they have a practice just for them, but honestly probably the best technical wrestler in the 2nd/3rd grade room is a girl and she's great.
That was my problem. I loved wrestling but just didn't have the mentality and confidence to go out there and do it. Nerves were crazy and never got better with more matches.

Thoughts from the dual the other night. I will echo what a lot have already said. Coaches have these guys turning up after a couple years in the program now. Coleman doesn’t get talked about enough because of the excitement of Bastida but man he looks so good. Hope to see him on the podium in a tough weight. Bastida has some conditioning now and looks phenomenal. Broderson and Devine have made big leaps. Carr is absolutely one of the best we’ve ever seen and it doesn’t go unsaid how great he is. I want to see Parker and Degen on the podium but they have to be able to string matches together at nationals.
I appreciate your thoughts and agree with the majority of them. Here a a couple differences for discussion sake:

1. Agree with coaching & Bastida.
2. 174 - I do agree that Devine has made progress. I'm still looking for more "proof" out of Broderson. I'm expecting Devine to go tonight. IF he beats Hastings tonight then he'd be my guy for this year. Lack of Midland/Scuffle type tourneys makes it very difficult for one guy to prove that he's better in a highly contested weight. (Same goes for 165 Judge vs. Kraisser)
3. Carr - enjoy the ride ;)
4. Degen has already proved he can make the podium (AA'd in 2019)... Agree on Parker though. I'm in the camp that if both are healthy they will both AA this year. IMO 149 is a bit deeper/tougher.
5. Any inside info on Redding? Can/will he make a run at 133?

Also - here's a new preview article I found https://www.widerightnattylite.com/2022/1/14/22881134/wrestling-preview-wyoming (not sure if this is how to provide a link - maybe someone can instruct me if it's not)

There’s probably a quote out there somewhere but I heard it talked about years ago. Someone said the second hardest thing to do in wrestling is win a title. The hardest thing to do is repeat. With that logic, which I think is accurate, it goes to show that Degen still has to do it again and it’s proven harder this time than the first time. Whether it’s injuries, game plans/film, weight management, draws, hunger. There’s always an excuse to be made but it isn’t a guarantee even when you’ve done it before. Let’s see them finish their careers strong

CCRG- Agree that's its harder to repeat... no excuses on my end. I'm hoping Degen & Carr will both get it done the second time around this year.

Totally agree on lack of tournaments to help decide weights . Midlands was canceled and we may have had some sickness at that time - it’s just been a weird year.

141 top 9
Lee
Eierman
Seabass
Micic
Duncan
Clarke
Alirez
Red

I think 141 is a deep weight. Some good wrestlers aren’t making the podium this year. 149 seems more too heavy with Yianni and Sasso but 4-8 are beatable. I like Degens chances if remains healthy.
