I'm not sure if this stuff will be worth anything in 5-10 years, but I know there is a hell of a lot of money to be made in it right now. I could afford to throw a little money in so I did. I do think regulators are gonna spoil a lot of the fun real soon.

There are multiple countries that can and need this type of currency due to their situation. This type of currency isn’t going anywhere for a long, long time.

And money lost. One guy was saying it took him weeks to even get verified. another said he put money in and is still waiting for his trade to get validated. I would hope the casual observer is only throwing their beer money at this and not getting that glazed look in their eye like oh lets say real estate, or tech stocks or, or, or...

Reminds me of casino people. Every once in a while they say - hey I just made $2,000! 4 months later - hey I just made $1,400! But they never tell of the time and money in between.

This is nothing like a casino, to be fair.

The volume and market cap in bitcoin is huge. Not saying that is the end all number, but the demand is extreme. It’s not a flash in pan that some people seem to think.

I don’t advise people to put everything they own in it, either. But I think 1-2% should definitely be invested in this. The upside is just too big.

I track the value of my coins each day and stay up to date on the market through youtube videos. It's fun to see my money grow.

I'd say day trading is probably a more apt comparison, though even in that case the gambling comparison still holds.

I wonder if this is a capital gain or like miscellaneous income for taxes.

Ha - I know a guy who bought and sold bird seed for a living. Retired at 58 I think.

Yea, my retired grandmother literally spends $100 a week on bird seed/suet so she can watch the tons of birds and squirrels at her feeders in her back yard.

I guess better than sending it to a TV preacher or something.
