I appreciate that. That sucks you can't use a debit card for it yet. Ripple is 1.15 this morning. I hear it has potential of $20(certainly optimistic). That's a hell of a return. Even hitting 5$ or $10 would be good.
I have invested a little in ripple, I think it was some potential. I'd be really happy if it was $10 by next year. I've mainly invested in Cardano.

What does it mean to be "verified" and what's the point of it?

Also, I didn't realize there were transactions fees... Maybe that's just my naiviete

Isn't the biggest bank in Japan doing something with ripple?

It was interesting to go back and read the oldest thread I could find on Bitcoin here. I wonder how this guy made out and if he bought any back after selling... Of course 2-3 people posted CNN articles on the dangers of such a gamble and they were 0 for 2.

@ISUCyclones2015 is still around once in a while. Hopefully he's bitcoin rich by now.

Damn he got in early. I wish I got into it when I first heard about it in 2013 but I was only 14 at the time.

I am not doing too bad, I'll say that :D

After a crazy volatile end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, I used it as a currency as intended. Mainly in online sports betting and online poker plus small businesses. Didn't really "invest". After I started my job after graduation in Summer of 2015, I have put $100ish a month into cryptocurrencies as an investment plus whatever I used as a currency. There used to be a bar, coffee shop, and burrito shop in Dallas that accepted BTC as payment and you would get a discount so I did that a bunch to support the cause. Transaction fees make it impossible to do that now.

I am mining a couple different types of coins plus the $100 a month mainly in ones that are geared towards solving a problem or being a true currency. I am mainly out of Bitcoin now because people lost sight of it being a currency and it's currently just in a Greater Fool's Theory commodity landmine right now. I bought and sold over this year, leaving about 2ish (I think 2.11 last time I checked) bitcoins left. I am just going to leave them there to see what happens. Maybe just try to forget about them. I've made my "to the moon" money.

I've also thrown some of my IRA into a bitcoin etf/stock: GBTC. That stock is up ~1700% this year.

I still think cryptocurrency is the future or at the very least will be a part of everyday life but Bitcoin is not the one. Once this current bitcoin bubble bursts, it'll be a defining moment. Lots of people who put all their money in cryptos committed suicide, lost their entire retirement, got divorced, etc. This current run in 2017 has been sustained so long that when it finally crashes, it'll be disastrous to the whole cryptocurrency idea.

I beleive he was asking about an AmEx Black card at some point and we were all making fun of him. I bet he can't hear us now because his helicopter is too loud.

It's actually a Gulfstream  :p

I'd be most interested in which coins you find most useful these days, if any. I think you are correct and that this next wash out will determine a lot of things. I think I was just too old to get in on this opportunity when I should have. After all, I finally got a smart phone last year.

I want to get rich.....but I don't really want to do anything. Certainly nothing stressful or where I might get dirty. Any ideas?
