I root for the jersey not the individual but as I learn about the individual I start to care and root for them. With free agency for players I will unfortunately start to not care as much about the individual and thus will probably start to lose interest overall. Part of college fandom is they chose ISU like we did and the creates a bond and without that I might as well watch pro ball.
You stated my feelings much more eloquently than I did. If we want to be competitive we have to play the NIL/ Pay for Play game. So we have to raid other, smaller schools the way we’re being raided. At which point we’re no longer so much good ol’ ISU as a conglomerate of athletes who we don’t really know what their motivation is for choosing us. Just renting players for probably an average of two years, quite possibly less. You can already see it with MBB.

Be glad we’re not Texas, they are losing players to the portal like crazy. 8 players in the last month I think and I was making fun of them today after they lost another receiver. I commented on the longhorn wire that while ISU is getting 3 players drafted in the first 4 rounds of the NFL, Texas players are looking to get drafted in the transfer portal. I think it’s safe to say that my comment wasn’t popular after that, lol.

We really haven’t done much in the football transfer portal when it comes to aqquring players
I have always wondered that too but I think it goes to show the character of CMC and his loyalty to his players. I think it’s tough to be a coach because you don’t want to go looking for players in the portal and annoy the ones you have on those specific positions that you would be recruiting. If I was a player and my coach is recruiting a quick fix for my position then that would annoy me. So maybe that’s how CMC is approaching this whole portal thing.

With the non stop turnover, as a fan asking me to stay interested.. This would be like if a tv show flipped over a 1/3 of their characters every few episodes and still having interest. Not sustainable

The NIL toilet only holds so much water. All these kids swirling in the flush. Then still have to compete for playing time against all the kids coming together into these pay toilets. Good luck with that!

Instead of buying tickets to football games.... maybe all the fans in the country can use that money to buy players instead and just watch from home? Then the players would all be playing in empty stadiums.... is that what they want? I suppose they wouldn't care as long as they were making big bucks. What a world we live in. Money drives everyone.

To get into the portal or find a new home without having to sit out a year?
I would be stunned if he didnt have a new "home" already locked down.

Altho, you never know, maybe he just got pissed about something and snapped and bailed. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, it sucks.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine: random Twitter people using the names of star athletes in their Twitter handle. That same poster had a bunch of people fooled a couple weeks ago too when the Tyrese Hunter news broke. People thought they were actually replying to Jalen when it's just some random 13 year old probably.
Yeah that's my bad, just saw the name and was surprised. Lesson learned!

It will be interesting to see if he was contacted by an agent. Also it will be interesting to see if some of the players end up not finding a home and end up in division AA.
