I came across this article on Yahoo. While its mainly about Ames, its something the majority of college towns are likely dealing with.

It's funny to see Gloria Betcher lament the potential loss of money due to the loss of students, when she and the people in the ward she represents do everything they can to keep students/renters out of their neighborhoods.

Some yes, but for the most part no. I have lived here for 15 years after I graduated, its mostly the old blue hairs in the downtown district who hate the students. Funny they dont realize Ames would be Boone to the east without ISU.

I never did, I remember when they wanted to count us for the census but not let us vote.
