Stronger punishment for court storming than rioting that's some real priorities there.
The incident last night could have been way worse, and I'm glad it wasn't. But fans rushing the court or field of play after a big win or upset is a big part of why people love college sports, and trying to ban it seems like a knee jerk reaction.
If anything, I'd suggest that KSU review their security procedure. How is it that a court gets rushed around 10-20 times every basketball season (rough guesstimate) and yet this is the only time that has everybody up in arms?
I don't buy that. I mean it's a thing that happens that people mostly enjoy, but a big reason why people love college sports? The incident last night could have been way worse, and I'm glad it wasn't. They need to ban the court storming. Easy way, if you storm the court and caught, you are thrown out of school.
One of these days it's going to get out of control and a fight will break out.
If I was fred and knew the court storming was coming, I would call timeout with 10 seconds left and take my team off the court and to the locker room.
Does storming the court look fun? Sure. Is it exciting to watch that huge celebration? Absolutely.
Should it be banned? Probably.
I know that's likely an unpopular opinion, but there are just too many things that could happen, and it's hard to keep control. I don't think people would stop watching or coming if they couldn't storm the court anymore.
