Congrats

I saw at least two NDSU blocks in the back that went uncalled. And there was that ISU punt where NDSU should have had a penalty for either contact or trying to induce movement. So I have to agree, the officiating could have been better.

Still NDSU looked like a much better club than I could have imagined. Craig Bohl is a very good offensive coach. The NDSU running back Paschall looked great. If NDSU continues to play solid and cleans up a few small issues, I'm sure they will do better than last season.

I wish I could be as upbeat about my Cyclones. Hopefully next week will bring better perspective.

There was also Schwartz's fumble. The refs should have blown the whistle there. His forward progress was stopped and they let the play last about five seconds longer than it should have until, finally, the ball was stripped.

I also thought they could have looked at Reynolds' tippy-toe catch on the sidelines right before the half. I think he got both toes in bounds, but they didn't even review it. That could have made a big difference in momentum if we had made that first down, then run a few more plays, maybe even scored a TD right before half. At the very least it would have been a much shorter FG than the 57-yarder we eventually had to try.

But I definitely think the refs didn't do NDSU any favors either.

The officiating could have been better both ways? How so? I mean, we only had one penalty called on us? What else was there?

See posts following your own. Often times it is the penalties NOT called that make a difference. Like I said, I didn't feel either team gained an advantage by unfair/inconsistent officiating. At least none that weren't offset by another.

Got back home last night and now rested up enough to start posting.
Congratulations on the victory. Hope the Bison gave the Cyclones enough of a game so that the good and bad can be evaluated. Also glad to see you had a good turnout for the game considering it was against a relatively new FCS team. The Cyclones should build on their passing game......looks like you have some great receivers and a QB that can get the ball to them.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the tailgate area and at the game. Was also glad NDSU hung around until late in the 3rd quarter when the Bison were only behind by 7 points. As I said in prior posts NDSU's line is FBS caliber. If ISU can makesome defensive adjustments and tackle better you should be able to improve on defense. Going forward I am most concerned about NDSU's ability to complete medium and long passes. Our QB's accuracy is questionable and the WR's not yet proven. I think the coaches are afraid to air it out for fear of interceptions. This will lead to teams putting 9 in the box to shut down our running game.
The game is history and hope the Cyclones do well this season as this will mean NDSU might be better than I think. Thanks again for tolerating us Bison fans on your messageboard. Good Luck.......Beat the Hawkeyes!

First, good to see some levelheaded Bison fans show up after the fact. Good luck to ya.

i was floored by the quality of ndsu's team. i really did not expect that kind of nervousness tonight.

NDSU has a good team.

We've said similar things after playing some of our non-conference foes the last few years. Only to watch almost all of them go on to have losing records in their own conferences (ones we should dominate).

So while it's all well and good to give credit to the Bison at this point, lets watch 'em play another game or two before crediting their quality. Because I've seen this movie before, many times. And it's about as predictable as an episode of Full House.

I honestly can say that i bashed the bison, and i can honestly say i only did it because of lakebison, i was wrong bison fans are actually a pretty good group of people...I think NDSU is a physical hard hitting team and that Oline was extremely good and very big..Your defense is for the most part solid and your dline is pretty good, overall i was impressed by NDSU and your runningback is the best player on the team in my opinion, he has great speed and he reads his blocks very well. Overall NDSU is a solid team, i think the QB and receivers are a little weak along with your DB's, other then that extremely physical well coached football team, best of luck this season bison
