Congrats on the win Cyclone fans, overall this is about what I expected I felt like we were in it until the last TD. Im a big homer and felt like the reffing was pretty poor but definately didnt cost us a game or anything like that.

I think most clone fans are right your offense will be very good this season but your D wasnt great which im sure you all knew. I think your team is only a few recruits away from a big step forward in the Big XII North.

I hope that you beat Iowa next week and pick up a bunch of wins this season and maybe go bowling. Good Luck and once again nice win.

thanks for the kind words. i was floored by the quality of ndsu's team. i really did not expect that kind of nervousness tonight.

Thanks for the gracious words, it was a good game and I mostly agree with your analysis.

where was our defensive line tonight???sounds like the only player we have on defense is a cyclone named SIMS!!!!!!

From the choppy video I was able to watch from a distance, I would agree the officiating could have been better. I didn't feel it was one sided, though. Each team had their breaks.

The tackling needs to get better. I know CPR has stated as much, but I still can't believe how many times the guys are trying to make the big hit instead of wrapping up and tackling somebody.

At this point, I'm afraid iowa is going to run all over us. The offense wasn't quite where I expected, but there were a number of times in which a little more concentration or another half an inch would have made all the difference in the world.

We'll see how the game Saturday goes (I think iowa wins big, unfortunately), but we'll definitely need the offense to be more crisp next week and beyond if we want to win some games.

Offense definately is having a hard time clicking with the new scheme, which is to be expected. Our defensive front 7 looks like a middle of the pack FCS team.

I am a realistic optimist by nature, and that is pretty fitting as a Cyclone fan. I fully expected that kind of nervousness tonight, yet hoped for much better.

Like Bruns said, this line needs some time to work together, and they can be a pretty dang good unit. There were some passes that were a little off, and some catches that were missed. I think we'll see a drastic improvement in the next few weeks in terms of the offense.

The defense did disappoint, though. I was hoping for more improvement in the tackling department than was shown.

I'm here to eat a little crow, although not that much. You gave us a far tougher game than I had imagined, but not nearly as tough as some of your fans imagined.

So I guess all I want to say is you guys played a good game and the issue was in doubt far longer than I would have hoped.

I think a few of our fans sometimes get caught up in thinking this our team from 2006 or 2007, if either of those teams had lost this game I would have been ******/heartbroken.... but this is a different NDSU team and I was pleasantly surprised with how well we played at times. I think most logical NDSU fans knew that to win this game we had to play very well on both sides of the ball and get a few breaks. 2 TO killed us although i thought we did catch the breaks we needed to win ( your te drops a wide open TD, we recover a fumble for a 20 yard gain when there are 3 cyclones around it) sadly it wasnt enough.

That wasn't a TE. He's almost big enough to be, but that is a WR. He's 6-3, 224.

I'll admit that I thought ISU would dominate. You should be proud of your team. That fumble on the goal line was huge, and you definitely got no breaks from the officials (although most of the penalties were either obvious or 5 yard meaningless).

Best of luck with the rest of the season. My roommate in graduate school was an NDSU grad when they were coming off 2 or 3 national championships in DII football, so you have an outstanding history.

these things get brought up after every game....

penalties are made,
turnovers happen
reffs "screw" one team or another

stuff happens in every college football game. In the end, the cream will rise to the top and a winner will step foreward. Its time for Iowa State to win some games this season even if some things go wrong.

Your guys played a really solid game. They did exactly what they were supposed to do to keep things close.

I read some worried fans on bisonville.com that the QB might throw the game away, but he certainly did not do that. Your kicker seemed solid as well, and some of your fans seemed worried about that.

This was a win that our guys had to fight hard for, and your team deserves a lot of credit for putting that sort of effort out there. Nice game from them.

The officiating could have been better both ways? How so? I mean, we only had one penalty called on us? What else was there?

I saw at least two NDSU blocks in the back that went uncalled. And there was that ISU punt where NDSU should have had a penalty for either contact or trying to induce movement. So I have to agree, the officiating could have been better.

Still NDSU looked like a much better club than I could have imagined. Craig Bohl is a very good offensive coach. The NDSU running back Paschall looked great. If NDSU continues to play solid and cleans up a few small issues, I'm sure they will do better than last season.

I wish I could be as upbeat about my Cyclones. Hopefully next week will bring better perspective.
