Conference Prediction for ISU

None that I can think of under Hoiberg, but this isn't a Hoiberg coached team anymore, and that's where I think people are concerned. The Hoiberg teams had a tendency to get down big but dig themselves out of holes because of their offensive prowess. This ISU team doesn't seem anywhere near as efficient or effective on offense without Niang and Nader. It will be interesting to see how they handle things if they get down early.

Why are people arguing when we're going to know very soon? Nobody knows, it's just an opinion that only has one way to prove… Watch and learn.

We will learn a ton Friday. Similar team to use coming to town. Ton of experience on that Tech roster.

Do you have amnesia? We've already lost to the one Big 12 level team we have played at Hilton. Whether we consider that performance good or bad is frivolous. This team is clearly beatable at home.

For someone that likes to advertise that Kenpom ranking, you must concerned about the final record projections.

You said we can play good and lose in Hilton and that we already have. I'm asking when that happened. Not that hard to follow

Cydkar- CF being CF, some people just like to argue.

We played well, for us. We certainly didn't play badly, and more importantly, it's reasonable to expect we'll play at that level against teams better than Cincy. We are very beatable in several upcoming home games.

No we didn't. We shot 37% from the floor, got killed on the glass and had more turnovers than assists. We played poorly that game. I can't remember the last time I walked out of Hilton after a loss and thought we played well. McDermott era probably

Lost by 1 in OT and shot 37%. Certainly a winnable game.

Under Hoiberg no lead for the opponent was safe.

Generally no lead for ISU was safe either.

He was really good at seeing and then maximizing individuals' offensive strengths though. IMO you definitely wouldn't see Monte Morris doing pick and rolls while everyone else stands and watches.

ISU got down big to Gonzaga and got some things figured out...it just hasn't been consistent.

Cursory fan, Hoiball bandwagon fan, I see. You better get ready for more of these "bad" games.

I've had season tickets since McDermott was here. I'm far from a bandwagon fan. Glad I could put your we play good and lose at home myth to bed though

ISU played well against Baylor last year even though they lost. ISU shot 48% from the field and only committed 9 turnovers. However, you will no doubt come up with something to suit your narrative.

You mean the game we gave up almost a 100 points? Motley destroyed us for like 30 and 15 that game. Lol if that's supposed to be an example of us playing good

Unrelated note, but Tech fans are pretty confident in getting a win in Ames. Their experience has me nervous. One of the oldest teams in college basketball. They are also going to be fired up after they blew it against us last year in Ames. Hilton will also be extremely quiet without the students. We will see though.

Every February CyTwin was sure McD era teams were headed to the NCAA tournament because they'd never lost a home game playing well. Those teams were actually good, they just played poorly in a majority of Big 12 games.

Not even close. I wanted him gone before his last season that he managed to mess up. I'm not some super optimistic poster, I predicted a 4-8 football season this year and I don't think we're bowling next year. I'm just not some idiot that thinks we can play good at home and lose. Not with this team anyways

In connection with the recent Hilton records I posted the other day, and subsequent discussion, I do agree some fans are too skeptical/pessimistic about piling up a lot of home losses, but I don't think many people are basing it on history, more about expectations of ISU after what we've seen and quality of conference teams. Even if losing more than a couple of home games in a season is rare, it doesn't mean it couldn't happen this season.
