The computer is 3 months old. It had been working perfectly... why would it just start having problems all of the sudden?
I'm hoping you figure it out and let me know. I just checked and I have 85 processes going.
I'll let you know if I figure it out... I've spent so much time messing with it already I almost just want to throw the little thing against the wall and go pay $350 for a new one.
My recommendation would be to use Avast as your virus protection. Home edition is free and I personally believe it is one of the best ones out there. After you install it make sure you allow it to perform a boot time scan and reboot your system. On a side note insure that you only have one anti virus program running at one time. Once that is done install the free version of super anti spyware and let it run a complete scan. Do both until it comes back clean. Also make sure you have run a disk defrag of your drive to insure it is optimized.
I would definately check to see if there is a bios upgrade. your system may be new but there might be an upgrade out there to help this exact problem.
I just reread the first post -
- remove the expired McAfee - it serves no purpose any more.
- TeaTimer is unneeded. It is the resident portion of SpyBot and really can bog down systems. Go into SpyBot, go "advanced" and uncheck the run teatimer option (not sure exactly where that is, but I can find it if you need more help). This alone should really help.

Done and done. Got rid of both of them... no luck. Something is causing my computer to lag mainly on the start-up. Once it gets up and running surfing the internet seems to be normal speed, but video and audio still lags a bit. Download times are not effected at all. I shut off all the applications that run during start up as previously told to me, but that didn't seem to help. It literally takes about 5 minutes to boot up... It used to take about 30 seconds.
What kind of hard drive is in the machine? Is it a solid state hard drive or a "standard" one that must spin up?
Where during the boot cycle does it seem to take the longest - during the "windows logo" phase or when applications are starting?
It is not a solid state drive. It seems to lag the most during the windows logo phase... the black screen with the tracking and then it lags on the blue screen that just says windows as well.
Select the "show processes from all users" checkbox and post again
I just can't figure out how I could have this going on... and my sound and video lag... as well as it taking forever to boot up. Nothing is running!!!!
