Cockiness

Well look no further than your "leaders" Morris and Long. Arrogant shiat talkers who don't really have the game to back it up (but at least they have cool hair). Minus Niang, and even McKay, Morris is very mediocre. Long is a career 36% 3pt shooter, which is very pedestrian. Respect Thomas much more for just playing the game and not running his mouth.

Saying Morris is very mediocre is dumber than anything our players have said to the media

It's the underlying issue that is causing these comments. It's what led to the "bad" game against Iowa and Drake. That's why it's concerning when the coach shrugs and chalks up a loss to a team with statistically one of the worse defenses you faced all year as a "bad" game. There is a cause to the "bad" game that manifests itself in the crap performance against a very bad Drake team.

I don't think he shrugged off the Iowa loss. He sounded pretty pissed to me.

On the one hand, Bowie is absolutely right and will never have to face Drake again. They're 345 of 351 in RPI, or thereabouts for goodness sake. However, why did that run take 36 minutes to happen? There are no more Drakes on the schedule. Time to STFU and play.

Someone should tweet Bowie that he should probably get his free throw percentage above 45% before talking smack.

A couple observations from being at the game yesterday.

-All this talk about improved defense but Drake was scoring at will on us. Lots of uncontested shots and our interior defense is beyond pathethic.

-Rebounding is just awful, Burton is our best rebounder and he had a hard time competing inside for rebounds against Drakes bigs. Bowie is about our only inside threat to score and rebound.

One last thought, how bad does Simeon Carter have to be to not get minutes over Holden?

As much as we liked to make fun of White for similar things Bowie is right. Drake had zero business being in that game. Talent wise we are a top 25 team. We have not played anywhere near well enough to deserve that. I don't know the context but if it is said in a way that means we have to get our heads out of our butts I have no problem with it. That is kind of my impression of it if it came from a Naz pep talk right before the run.

I want the team to have a degree of swagger, but more internally focused (mentally on individual basis) and team-unified. If you happen to think you should obliterate an opponent, collectively crush them on-court.

I disagree with both of these. Drake played well and looked well-coached, playing nice team ball. I know they've been in games but fell short.

I don't see ISU as a top 25 team at the moment. No one reliable in creating, and virtually out of sight in the post.

Niang was great when it came to trash talk. He backed it up, and wasn' vicious about it. These guys are coming off as pretty unlikeable.

Pretty true. Niangs "talk" always came in context or as a teasing troll of rival fans. It's was never just arrogant spouting off. He's a pretty grounded guy, or so it always seemed to me.

This team doesn't have any grinders. Kane and Hogue were grinders. Cocky in their own right but brought their attitude on every play of every game.

It's fine to be cocky or have attitude if you back it up and keep your composure. Kane, Ejim, Niang were the embodiment of what I'm getting at.

I agree.
I hope they figure it out and make a deep run in March, but this team is quickly becoming really unlikeable. I expected much more from a group of seniors.

Kind of the opposite of Hoiberg's first team, which was a bad team but still likeable and fun to watch.

This team.. has little identity and isnt very fun to watch, and that leaves little tolerance for arrogance.

I was hoping it was maybe takenot out of context. Maybe like hats offor to Drake they played well we didn't. We should be better then this. But soundswitched like he may have been talking out of his ass

Did you even read what I said? I specifically said we haven't played like it but if you look at our talent we are. Drake did play well but still had no business being close to us as evidenced by the what 21-4 run.
