From what I know of TJ, I rephrase it as he actually wants to win here. He knows the program and he knows himself. has a plan. He’ll do what it takes, including self-reflection and knowing his limitations.
As opposed to Steve not be willing to do what it takes to win, whether due to arrogance or ignorance. No coach’s inner being has been used to lipstick shortcomings as the coach of ISU MBB more than Steve’s. Which was to be expected after it played too much of a role in his hiring. As opposed to Steve Prohm actually wanted to lose here?
You know, in your statement I could replace TJ with GMAC because this explaining of TJ's inner being was used countless of times during GMAC's tenure by his minions while pleading for patience. Almost to the point where it felt they were going to invite us all to get into a drum circle and sing Kumbaya oh Greg, Kumbaya.
Same. Can't be worse than what we have now. There may or may not be better options, but I don't know what the options are so I can't judge yet.
If you are going outside the box. Why not hire an African American coach. Makes more sense than a white woman!
Anthony Grant - Dayton HC
Dennis Gates - Cleveland State HC
Dana Ford - Mo State HC
Dwayne Stephens - Mich St Asst
Micah Shrewsberry - Purdue Asst.
Jerome Tang - Baylor Asst.
Avery Johnson? Why should he not be considered? Brought in many of the current Alabama players that Nate Oats is now using and Top 10.Who out of this group do you guys think is most ready I'm a little knowledgeable with Dana Ford, our neck of the woods, comes off well, well spoken, intelligent, I think a very good coach. But only his 2nd year at Missouri State so not sure if ready yet.
This guy deserves an interview. Guys on ESPN calling his program a mini FSU. Says they have an unbelievable culture that this coach installed in only two years, which stuck out huge to me.
My candidates in order:
1. DeVries
2. Craig Smith
3. Porter Moser
17. Me
99. Elmer Fudd
100. TJ
353. Hoiberg
Was just reading a story about this.Didn't scroll through past posts in this thread, but would we have a shot at Musselman - Arkansas? He was awesome a Nevada and will prolly have Ark as a 2, or 3 seed. Again, it would be a long shot, but is there a chance ?

Not sure if this has been posted yet https://theoffensive.vegas/2021/03/04/t-j-otzelberger-named-a-top-candidate-for-iowa-state/
Just curious on Avery. I did a little research on this years Alabama team. Most likely their success is more due to Oates. 2-3 of their best players are his recruits, including Shackleford, His up-tempo game, his empahsis on defense also, his breaking of the players wanting to shoot mid-long range jumpers for 2, instead of short shots, layups and 3's which he things/says are more effective. And he is recruiting shooters who are willing to play defense even though they are one of the fastest paced/shooting teams out there.Avery Johnson? Why should he not be considered? Brought in many of the current Alabama players that Nate Oats is now using and Top 10.
Has Avery been talked about yet?
I can name at least 5 coaches that would be better than TJ and have proved it. If anyone has watched UNLV it’s the same nonsense we have been dealing with with Prohm. No defense, no rebounding, standing around on offense. No identity. If you watch UNLV you would swear Prohm is coaching them
