Coach Hoiberg: Call-In Show Comments

I am a member of the old guard, always lived out of state and unable to attend games. I would say I have listened to about 90% of the games since the mid 90's. With no offense intended to the younger generation, it is not even close to the way Hilton was. Perfectly understandable, we have had bad teams that weren't fun to watch. But back in the day you could barely hear Pete and Eric for much of the games in Ames. I can hear it now, Pete screaming just to be heard over the crowd. Freddie scores the last 17 points for us to beat ku. I was going crazy as Pete would yell "Hoiberg for 3.......GOOD AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Cannot wait for that again.

Has microphone tech gotten better to help cancel out crowd noise?

I'm very excited for Sledge...I think his talents will be maximized in our system, just the type of guy we need. The one thing that confuses me is his espn rating has him as an 88....which is at the top end of what they describe as a "mid-major prospect". How could the best rated pg out of NYC be a mid-major prospect? Probably his height, but still, makes no sense.

I think that we should definitely see if he can room with Hammerschmidt. Would be cool to see their mailbox. Sledge Hammerschmidt. I certainly wouldn't want to be THAT mailman!

Aaaand wow, it appears Byron Houston is now a registered sex offender:

Wow, he's got a serious problem:

Houston's prior offenses
Wednesday wasn't the first time Byron Houston had been arrested for indecent exposure. A quick look at his prior offenses:
•Sept. 30, 2001: Arrested after several women reported seeing Houston masturbating on his apartment balcony.

•May 28, 2002: Arrested after he was seen masturbating through a window.

•Aug. 30, 2002: Arrested after a woman reported seeing Houston masturbating in his vehicle.

•March 4, 2003: After pleading guilty to four counts of indecent exposure, he received a suspended sentence and was ordered to undergo treatment.

C'mon. At least he is practicing "Safe Sex"... :spinny::spinny:

I'd add an "older generation" game that always gets short shrift when talking about game-day experience.
Johnny's just getting off the ground program taking out a George Raveling Iowa team in overtime. We'd have probably lost by 40 if the game was in Iowa City. ISU was tiny compared to Iowa, yet won.
The noise level for the whole game and overtime was similar to having your head stuck between two fully cranked up 747's while a Grand Funk Railroad concert was going on.

The environment at ISU games isn't the same as it used to be. That is a fact. The reasons for this are plentiful and I agree that the students take an unnecessary amount of heat for the fizzling of the magic.

Fred talked about when he was in that critical part of a game as a player and mentioned the Oklahoma State game his sophomore year. You might recall that was the game when ISU came back from 18 at half and Hilton's floor was shaking late in the game as Oklahoma State was shooting free-throws. Crazy game and my favorite of all-time!

Awesome game! I had front row seats for that one. Although I'm pretty sure FH was a freshman...
