Looking at purchasing a Chromebook for a 1st grader to use the days she will be learning from home with the school going with a hybrid model. Anyone have any suggestions on make/models they recommend? The school provides Chromebooks for 3-12 grades but nothing for K-2 at the moment.

I got a Lenovo one and it works fine. I don't do any work on it besides message boards and internet.

The screen size is most important to me. I'm still running on a 5+ year old chromebook and have no speed issues.

Touchscreen is a really good feature for K-2 software.
I bought the cheapest one Target has when I moved a class online in my desperation to have something that would function. It did fine, but it's showing it's price already. Don't buy the cheapest one, because it will be crap.

I got Google slates for kids (1st graders at the time) @ Christmas... What a great purchase for what we've had to go through! Touchscreen and finger print logins are great! I personally feel touchscreen is a must for the Android apps you can install.

I got this HP 14 Chromebook during BF in 2018. Only $179. It has been really good so far. Sometimes it might slow up but overall it's great. Got the touchscreen because I thought I would use it but 90-95% of the time I don't use it.
Before this I had an older Acer 11 from around 2015. It is slower but still works well for the kids.

Got my wife a touchscreen Acer several years ago. She takes it everywhere and beats the crap out of it but it still works really good.

Double check on the K-2 thing. I was talking to a teacher neighbor last night and Ankeny is getting devices for all students this year because of the hybrid model. Previously it was just 3-12 that had devices. It may be the same in your district.

Do you want an inexpensive model that gets by or a better model that is faster and has features? If you want a good deal on a better model, you can get this at Best Buy for $400 with a student discount. I3 processor and 8GB RAM will be fast and allow lots of open tabs. 14" screen is probably the size that you want. And touchscreen is probably a good option for a 1st grader.

Leaning towards an HP model. Did some research last night and I like the features with the HP models. I'm usually a Dell guy but their larger screen chromebooks are a little pricey.
