Haven't all of the guys going early in the draft already announced? What else would CD be waiting for?
Sounds like he'll be wrapping it up in the next week. With Newman and Ingram coming off the board between now and next Monday I'd be surprised if Diallo doesn't do the same. That would just leave Jaylen Brown as far as the remaining elite recruits to commit.

Fred can't use his phone in the hospital and Chieck can't contact him to commit?

Here's my theory:
Diallo told (indicated / nudged / sent an carrier pigeon, whatever your fancy...) Fred a little while ago that we were in the driver seat, but to keep it hush hush. Even the loss of MA didn't affect his lean. So Fred told his staff we are "not looking good" with Cheick and has done everything to direct attention towards the other 4 schools. All of the in-home visits and what not by Cal, Mullin, Self are last ditch efforts to sway Diallo away from the good guys. I'm not saying it's a done deal... but it's the reason Fred was cool with surgery during the 12o'clock hour of Diallo's recruitment. Fred has made his pitch and Diallo loves what heard. Now the other sharks can come try to pick him off. AND after the last in-home from Cal, Diallo has heard enough, saw Fred is up and walking about after surgery, and thanked everyone via twitter. Now KU and UK are chasing 3star bigs as a fall-back.

So when we hear CW and Hines saying "I dont' think it's gonna happen" and "hearing UK / KU" it's just a misdirection play by Fred onto the Cyclone fanbase so (if) when he reveals it's ISU... that all of Cyclone nation will erupt and this site will literally melt down from reaction.

Until I hear another school out of Cheick's mouth... I believe we have a chance. And, If he goes another place, then Kudos to them for the winning last minute conversion.

it's always darkest just before the dawn.

I am talking about Iowa residents that did not attend college or who went to a small school that does not have a college basketball team. I would assume that if those people were basketball fans that they would choose to cheer for the local teams even though they did not graduate from one of those schools. Or people who had family members attend ISU but are not graduates themselves. It's not "fairweather" fans, just fans with different ties to the program than just being a grad. I would assume less than half the fan base actually graduated from ISU themselves.

Then you obviously know a lot less than you think you do. You are obviously getting ISU fans confused with Hokeye fans and that will do you no good whatsoever here on CF!

Didn't your mama ever tell you what happens when you assume?

I am one of those you speak of - and my brother is too. Have my masters from a private college in Iowa.

Iowa residents, grew up as Cyclone fans thanks to some relatives that graduated from ISU. Heck, we grew up in Eastern Iowa and chose the Cyclones. We're smart like that! Plus, we were farmers and Iowa State University Extension had a positive impact on us. The America Needs Farmers BS is marketing crap - ISU is the agriculture school!

My wife is an ISU grad and I'm a huge Cyclone fan and proud of it. Cyclone Club donor as well. Go Cyclones!

Oh, dear. You are aware that around 25% of people aged 25+ in Iowa have a college degree? I would assume that less than half of those went to ISU. I would assume that there are some of the rest of the 75% of the state that cheer for college athletics. And I would assume that some of those people cheer for ISU athletics, especially those that are basketball fans versus football fans. I'd say only about 1/3rd of the ISU fans that I know are actually ISU grads. I work with a half dozen that I know of off the top of my head and none of them went to ISU.

I wish I was an expert on everything like you are. My god, can you never not act like the biggest idiot in the room?

Believe me when I say that traditionally Iowa State has FAR FEWER fans that didn't attend the school than Kansas does or even Iowa does. It's the way it has always been in this state. And if you don't live here or know anything (vs. pretending to have knowledge), you don't realize that.

I'm 35, I grew up in the eastern part of Iowa. In my class of 70 people, I was literally the only Iowa State fan and the only reason I was, was because my dad was a graduate. It's gotten a lot better over the last 10 years or so, Iowa State has far fewer fans that have no connection to the program. I would guess that for people my age or older that are Iowa State fans, you either went to Iowa State, your parent went to Iowa State (and remained a fan) or you just wanted to be different. My Dad's brother didn't go to college and it wasn't until 5 years ago that he even started liking Iowa State more than Iowa. For much of my childhood it was literally hard to get an Iowa State game on TV or the radio.

Exactly. This is what makes up a significant portion of every fan base at a major state school. People vastly overestimate just how many grads there are versus the raw number of people in the state/region that cheer for the local college team.

I work across the river in Omaha, work with a large number of Iowa State fans and NONE of them actually attended Iowa State. Your experience is your own but it's not the only one. There are other people in the area that have done things a different way. Good grief, I can't believe someone is getting worked up about something so stupid and obvious.

Isn't it always the darkest at the midpoint between dusk and dawn?

Diallo just started following me today. After a couple of streets, I lost him. Is that a good sign?

start a troll twitter like istatenation and say Diallo is going to Texas and you'll have people posting it on this site.

Is this the dumbest argument in the history of the world? Or just in the history of CF?
I think the arguments over whether or not people should be bummed about "information" on a recruitment that is probably just made up stuff posted because the poster feels the urge to post SOMETHING to warrant being viewed as a recruiting expert is WAY more dumb. This argument is just a few people killing time waiting for someone else to post some fake information to argue about.
