I'm not saying you should never party. That would be absurd. There ways to have fun all the fun in the world and still be smart about it.

I agree that it was a dumb decision, learning how to make better decisions is probably one of the most important things most of us learn in college. Hopefully BDJ will learn from this.

If you are going to suspend college basketball players for partying during the week, look out. Half of the players in college basketball would be suspended.

This. There will be punishment but it shouldn't be a suspension. Here are some possible ideas for punishment...

1. The Mayor will force him to spend the entire weekend in Iowa City after the game on Friday night.
2. The Mayor will put in a call to Doyle in the hok weight room and have him put BDJ in the hospital with rhabdo.
3. The Mayor will have BDJ sit down with Peter Jok so he can hear first hand what being suspended for criminal activity is like... in a "scared straight" sort of scenario. Wait...
4. The Mayor will have Kirk Ferentz chew gum in BDJ's ear for hours on end. (An idea for new CIA torture tactics)
5. The Mayor will have BDJ drive a cab for Adrian Clayborn.
6. The Mayor will put a wig on BDJ and set him up on a blind date with Everson & Satterfield so they can show him a "real" good time.
7. The Mayor will lock BDJ in a "ghost room" with Sam Aiello and they can fight to the death... Jon Beutjer was lucky...

Those are just a few ideas to get the ball rolling...

I just realized that the point that this country became less than great is when the general populous started giving police and the court system the benefit of the doubt. ALWAYS DOUBT.

That point is irrelevant. He broke the law and was caught. The people that "do this everyday and go on with their lives" didn't spend the night in jail. Just like in football, it's only holding if it's called.

What law did he break, counselor? It appears that the noise level was measured at 60db, which is normal speaking levels. So, will that even stand in time? I don't undesstand your argument.

BDJ's neighbor who called the cops is named Matt White, according to this article from the Daily (White is quoted in the story): http://www.iowastatedaily.com/sport...cle_60e6b858-814a-11e4-b2f7-4790a1275e80.html

The kid comes off looking kind of petulant and small, but also clear BDJ probably wasn't being a great neighbor. Also, going to the newspaper probably wasn't a brilliant move.

Life experience tells me:
-BDJ's apartment probably was loud at times, but other times it's typical neighbor bickering.
-Stuff about the trash is probably a guy with a bug up his @$$, especially in a college town, trash issues are part of life for 100% of all humans living in a college kid area.
-Guy sounds really petty and probably making a bigger deal than it is when he says "the being disrespectful would stop, the bass would be turned off during the week-they could have it on during the weekends and at my discretion I could text them and tell them it was getting too loud."
-This kid will really regret putting his name out there in the paper.

This is telling of what he was dealing with

White said that he has tried to resolve this issue in numerous fashions, including calling the police more than a dozen times in the previous four months.

Whether BDJ/Nader are saints or pure evil, sounds like it might be worth the effort to get them a new place. If it's as bad as this kid is trying to make it out to be I'm surprised he hasn't moved.

lets get the kid a few hundred bucks to break the lease, and move on.
