Speak up, people..... Are there any comic book/superhero movie villains that are a MUST to have in the tournament?

On my list that I will submit for the committee, I have The Joker ranked #2 (behind Darth Vader), Lex Luthor ranked #5, Magneto vs Thanos as a play-in for a 10 seed, and Green Goblin vs Doctor Doom as a play-in for a 16 seed.
maybe exclude any villains that rely on otherworldly or supernatural ability that give them their villainous nature? It would help cut the list down quick and not have to blur lines between this comic book/superhero character is acceptable but this one isn't.

I think this needs to be for just your regular run-of-the-mill movie villains. Comic book super villains shouldn’t be included. They just complicate it too much.
I hear ya. I'm having a hard time thinking of a movie villain tournament that doesn't include Joker or Lex Luthor and trying to find a good compromise. It's difficult because there are so many good comic villains.

As the cartoon bracket is finishing we want to get a jump start on next bracket which is Villains.

Below is a list committee people have put together as usual I will pitch for new blood to join the team. Also as a committee we have been looking at format of what should or shouldn't be in so list of nominee's isn't incredibly large.

@2speedy1 had some great insights that would of helped the cartoon bracket but sadly it got after cartoon bracket was announced.

might just be me, but I didn't look at Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction as the villain, but just a guy doing his job. Marcellus Wallace was more of the villain in my opinion.

I was thinking that too, but the argument could be made that at least half the list are not really "villains." Marcellus was only in a few scenes, and Jules was a total badass.

I don't watch many movies period.
thanks for helping put the bracket together.

I mainly watch comedies so this one hard for me to bracket. In my first rough draft list I put in all my favorites and had to fill in the rest by lists. Appreciate the kind words.

Maybe for Joker we just do the name and if can stand for all who have played the role.

I feel like we lose either way. If we eliminate comic book / superhero villains completely there will be outrage. If we include just a handful people will outrage over ones not included.
If people are outraged then they can be on the committee and help make those decisions.

I don't see myself ever watching that... Ed Helms was originally going to play Frank Drebin. That would have been a disaster.
I will give you an honest assessment.

After watching The Nice Guys, I wanted Ryan Gosling in the role.
