CF After Dark Draft: Best Single game FB performances

Dwain Crutchfiellds 168 yards on a school record 47 carries against Colorado. In the snow and gave the Clones a 5-1-1 record. I remember watching Crutchfield doing a somersault over the CU line, landing in his neck and causing a scare.

I was at the Blythe game. Flew down with the team and my brothers. Sat next to Mr Benson the whole flight and he told me Johnny Orr stories about Johnny driving his cars. Crazy stuff. Great time and kicking the crap out of them topped off the weekend
I feel like this game changed the trajectory of the Campbell era more than any other. We had just lost a heart breaker to Iowa at home in overtime and then our star transfer QB goes off the deep end after a close loss to Texas. The season was looking a little iffy at that point and Campbell was not yet a proven winner at Iowa State.

Out of nowhere Kyle freaking Kempt leads us to a victory over Baker Mayfield and the Soonerettes in Norman for our first win there in 30 years! Amazing victory that led to many more.

Cutting it off at 2000 because "if we go farther back you just have Troy Davis" is comical. More like "we're mostly young bucks and don't have a clue what happened before 2000."

QB - Bandhauer at TEX, 1998 (437 pass yds)
RB - Hoppmann vs KSU, 1961 (271 rush yds)
RB - D. Davis at UI, 1998 (244 rush yds)
WR - Lester vs OU, 1989 (203 rec yds)
WR - Doran at OU, 1949 (203 rec yds)
TE - Krepfle at SDSU, 1971 (143 rec yds)
FLEX - Oberg vs OU, 1989 (411 pass yds)

And if I can't use pass yds in Flex, there are 3 easy QBs with 140+ rush yds (Seiler vs NEB, Caldwell at MIZ, Pedersen at OU) and a RB with 150+ rec yds (Jacobs at NEB).

Brock Purdys breakout game as a freshman 318 yards against OSU no. 25. He also rushed for 84 yards. Brocktober, 2018.
This one will always be my fondest memory of any Cyclone game. I got married that day and was late to my own wedding because I didnt want to stop watching. I was also a little intoxicated, and when they called to see where I was (Phoenix game watch location) my response was they cant start without me.

Every year on my anniversary I tell my wife Happy Brock Purdy Day. She rolls her eyes every time.

I listened to the podcast on this and enjoyed thinking back to some great performances. Some great memories to look back on.

A few of my favorites:
Todd Blythe vs A&M in 2005 - 8 rec, 214 yards; 4tds - I remember watching this at my brother's place and shocked at blowing out the Aggies in College Station

Joel Lanning vs Tech in 2016 - 17 car, 171 yards; 5tds (as a QB) - smoked Mahomes that day. I didn't realize Lanning had that many yards that day.

One other interesting tidbit about the great Joel Lanning game:

If I recall correctly, wasn't that all but the end of him playing on offense? Is there another player who has scored 5 TDs in one game and barely played on offense (or maybe even not played at all on offense) after that?

Yet, Lanning didn't get the "Most Versatile Player" award! Travesty.

Troy Davis vs Missouri 1996. Rushed for 378yds. Clones threw the ball 15 times for 59yds. Missouri knew he was running, stacked the box, and still ran for, at the time, the 2nd highest NCAA all-time single game rush total.
We were on the southwest hillside when he ran for what I think was his last big touchdown run that came right at us. That performance was unbelievable.

That was essentially his last game playing only on offense, at least. He didn't record any stats the next week against West Virginia. But his QB/LB season was the next year, in 2017.

It's understandable that everyone remembers that Tech game as the Joel Lanning game. But Jacob Park was also great in that game: 14/18 for 285 yards and 3 TDs (2 passing, 1 rushing).

So Iowa State's combined QB stat line in that game was: 17/22 for 336 yds passing, 176 yds rushing, and 8 TDs (2 passing, 6 rushing). The Tech defense just could not stop the Iowa State offense at all.

QB - Seneca vs Mizzou, 2002. 493 total yards (425 passing, 68 rushing) in a shootout victory.

Remember watching the Bandhauer game at Welch Ave Station, dude was slinging it that day.

About half way through the game, Tech wanted to head down south again to get out of the cold. They just gave up, it was great watching ISU break their spirit.

Beating #2 ranked OSU was a huge game for ISU. OSU wins that game they are all set to get into the playoff, and we crushed their hopes in OT.
