Just like everyone else Netflix, Hulu, Prime and other streaming stuff doesn't even have a hiccup. Sling is always buffering and cutting out.
Sling uses an application on the computer, it's not a web-based stream like Cyclones.TV. So, you will not be able to cast the sling.tv website to watch. There might be another way to do it, but just know it's not a web player that you can access inside of Chrome.
Hm, do you use it through a PC or a Roku/streaming device? I hadn't heard about the issues with the PC platform. I pretty much solely use the Roku & occasionally mobile. No issues.
Yeah the PC app was super spotty. Kinda want to chalk it up to early on glitches. Maybe I'll try out one of the sticks when sports starts back up.
Anyway, I canceled my subscription this summer because there aren't any sports and that's all I need it for. Might have gotten better since I did cancelled a few months ago

DVR for? Over the air stuff? There's a few options for those. You could build a PC and use a tuner card. You could buy a Tivo, which I believe would work.
The other option is this type of thing, which is what I use:

But they're becoming rarer and rarer
DVR for recording weekly shows. For instance, if I get Sling TV and want to record The Walking Dead every week because I'm rarely home when it's on. Is that possible?
My issues aren't as bad as what other people seem to be having, but with sling I do have trouble getting HD, though I rarely see buffering. With Youtube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime I have no issues getting full HD without buffering. I use a second generation Roku.
Does the Roku 2 have the headphones on the remote? I stay up later than the wife (well, she's asleep before I get home), and the headphones in the remote on my Roku 3 are awesome. You plug it in, and the TV goes silent. I can even walk to the fridge for a beverage and I can keep listening.
They have a version of the Roku 2 with the headphones and a version without. Also, you can't just buy a headphone remote and have it work with a version that wasn't originally sold with it.
Well I'm pretty sure we'll be taking the plunge and cutting DirecTV this weekend (the wife needs to make sure she can still watch all her shows first).
I'm planning to get a Roku Stick and a Roku 3.
Signing up for Sling TV and Hulu Plus. ($28/month)
That should cut out about $80/month.
Other than no DVR, any other downsides I'm not considering?
Sling TV will only work on one TV at a time, correct? So we can't have ESPN going in the living room and bedroom at the same time.
Otherwise we can stream from Hulu Plus on two devices at the same time, right?
I'm excited, but nervous...

Check your internet package and make sure you have enough data to support the move to streaming. Mediacom has data limits that my family exceeded when we first cut the cord. When I worked with Mediacom I actually got a better package for the same price that I was already locked into with about 3x the data per month.
