Many of our players are showing the same body type - strong, wiry - likely a combination of recruiting the same characteristics and their strength and conditioning coach. I noticed improved strength and condition after Baier's first year and I think she's made her mark.

Bill wants his players strong but doesn't want to sacrifice the ability to get out and run. It is gratifying to see a player like Kane who isn't naturally the fastest player you are going to see but who will often follow up the fast break for a put back bucket.

Remember that Kane is a kinesiology major, so it makes sense that she and Baier-Pyszczynski have a really good handle on how to maximize her physical abilities. And it's not like Kane is in kinesiology just as an easy thing for an athlete to major in -- she's an academic all-conference athlete and did an S&C internship at Clemson last summer.

The gap in that regard between Kane/Jordao and Vick/Izzy is where they really need to make progress (physically)

The good news is despite having been here for over a year, eligibility-wise Izzy is still a true freshman.
Izzy does need some time. Kane took a few years to figure things out and also get Bill's confidence. Not saying it will happen but the only way to get a five position player these days at Iowa state is find a candidate and hope they develop.

Kane is all hustle and just love her effort. Not sure she can go all out like that for extended minutes. She's not fast but works really hard to be as fast as she can be getting up court. She's not going to steal second but her effort will get her a legged out double sometimes. I think the constant in and out of the game with her and Jordao keep them both fresh. Doesn't seem to bother them at post as much as maybe a guard position for getting "into the game flow" and all.

I also think people underestimate Kane athletically. She can look a little awkward but she's a good basketball player with some nice skills. Heck she's shooting 79% from the line which is darn good for a post and we know she can make a three if needed.

Agreed. I have said previously that she is my favorite player on this team because you can just see her working so hard to get the most out of what God gave her. I have also noticed how well Bill seems to rotate between Kane and Jordao to keep them fresh. They both seem to have bought into the concept that they will each get their minutes but those minutes will come in short shifts almost like a hockey player. And they are willing to give their all when they are in there.
