Cards

I played a ton of gin rummy with my great grandma then played it with my kids as they grew up. Occasionally play cribbage with Mrs. Althetuna.

Played Taco, Goat, Cat, Cheese, Pizza at family Thanksgiving and that was good fun.

If my kids could lose that game like they lose pieces to toys and other games I would not mind! It's an ok game and the kids love it but I can only tolerate by not playing it regularly. Gets a little obnoxious I think.

Thinking of teaching them phase 10 soon. We are doing a big family get together this summer and trying to think of games that several people can play and that is one that came to mind.

My wife’s side plays 500 every holiday- I grew up playing 500, Spades and Continental Rummy. I don’t mind 500, but prefer the other two games to it.

Yeah spades and euchre I prefer to 500.

Also Rook is a lot of fun, and the number of games of A-hole we played in high school was breathtaking in hindsight

Euchre seems to be underrated a bit in this thread. Great game, give it a try if you havent.
I've played over 3000 hands of Euchre and probably 50 hands of Pepper but think I like Pepper more, feel like Euchre is a lot more luck of the draw than Pepper. Obviously all cards are luck of the draw but just my opinion after a lot of Euchre.

Anyone know asian war? My favorite card game of all time, 3 player game with some Prez and A hole roots. Or Crazy Bridge/Up and down the river?

Started our kids & grandkids when preschool age on UNO which I think helps with their acquiring learning skills and also the family “take no prisoners” mentality. Phase 10 and Mexican Train (dominoes based) are the 2 games played now whether it’s a family gathering of young and old or just adults.

We used Up and Down the River as a drinking game back in the day.
