It's a tradition on my side of the family. I grew up playing with my parents and grandparents, and now my kids play with me and my parents. Usually we play 31. My kids haven't learned Pitch, but I've played three-hand with my folks before.
Playing cards with family around my grandparents dining table is a cherished memory for me. We used to get 8-10 people together - grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins - and play Pass The Ace (aka **** On Your Neighbor) or Blackjack too. The older folks also played Pepper and I got into it a bit, but don't remember how to play now. It's a four-person game played in pairs.
Used to play Spades with guys at lunch where I worked while going to school. Haven't played Cribbage in ages, though i have an app that I play a few times a week. Never played the traditional games like Euchre, 500, Bridge.
