It's a tradition on my side of the family. I grew up playing with my parents and grandparents, and now my kids play with me and my parents. Usually we play 31. My kids haven't learned Pitch, but I've played three-hand with my folks before.

Playing cards with family around my grandparents dining table is a cherished memory for me. We used to get 8-10 people together - grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins - and play Pass The Ace (aka **** On Your Neighbor) or Blackjack too. The older folks also played Pepper and I got into it a bit, but don't remember how to play now. It's a four-person game played in pairs.

Used to play Spades with guys at lunch where I worked while going to school. Haven't played Cribbage in ages, though i have an app that I play a few times a week. Never played the traditional games like Euchre, 500, Bridge.

Not me. Used to love playing pinochle with my gramps. Poor guy passed away four years ago and we have never played since. :(:(

Cribbage is one of the best games known to man. I agree outside of that though. It’s tough finding people to play nowadays.
Absolutely agree. If you want to play cribbage, become a Freemason. You'll get all you want and more.

I love 500. Used to play a lot, actually when young. Now, I have no one around that either knows how to play or likes to play.
We played 500 all of the time in high school. Before school, lunch, study hall, field trips, any free time, we played a ton.

Grew up playing pinochle when visiting family. My mom's family played with one deck, my dad's family played with two decks. The latter always seemed like more fun as you were dealt more cards and had a better chance melding points. Bidding and game play very different. Five handed was fun, too. It's been years since I have played.

We typically played “ Books & Runs” when my mother was with us. Now typically Catan or Sequence with an occasional B & R.

Card games are my favorite, can't stand luck games what a waste of time. I'm always trying to convince people to play these days. Was raised on Nuts, Euchre, and Crazy Bridge but I've played them all. Marshalltown is a Pepper town so been dabbling in that, similar to Euchre.

Back in the day when grams and gramps were still with us there was always cards being played when family got together. Poker, 500, euchre, Pit, Michigan rummy, Dutch Blitz. Gramps would get heated at times and call someone a dirty rat. I really miss those days.

Euchre is great. Uno attack is fun for all ages. I just got Poop from my sister for Xmas but haven't played it yet.

Wouldn’t trade card games or board games with my kids for anything. Nice to have them old enough to play 500 or hearts or board games like Catan. So much better family time than video games or just watching TV.
We do no device time in our house starting at 6:30pm. Our oldest child was having night terrors about an hour or 2 after going to bed and would have some rough nights sleeping. We started to look into ways to fix the sleep issues and screen time and things that stimulate kids came to the top of the list. So starting at 6:30 we play games or do something other than use electronics and it's made a big difference in sleep quality. We usually play board games or card games until it's time for the kids to take a bath and go to bed. Our 10 and 7 year olds love to play Euchre and chess along with a lot of other games that challenges them. After bath time they read for about 15-20 minutes before lights out. Both kids sleep well and the hour or so we set aside at night is a nice wind down for all of us.

I like overly complex games as well (sadly, no one I know does), but my first wife and I played the **** out of Hearts with our friends. Recently took it up again and once I did, all of the strategy and fun of it came right back.

I'll bring a cribbage board to tailgates next fall. We can meet up and battle it out. You play muggins?

Not a huge card player, but I normally enjoy it once I start playing. Good people make it fun.

I played a lot growing up. My mom and Grandmother both loved cards.

When I first started working after college there was a group of guys who played a strange game I'd never heard of. I would watch but could never figure it out. They were (mostly) from Wisconsin. Finally it was explained to me. Then I started playing it. It was 5 handed. Most hands ended up being 2 versus 3 to take tricks (but sometimes it was 1 versus 4).

Anyone here ever played Sheepshead?

Depends on how many beverages deep the group is. lol. Counting becomes a group effort at a certain point. I’ve been in front of a cribbage board for like 25 years though so I will say I don’t miss much.

I started playing in elementary with my uncle has to be close to that long ago too. I feel I don't let much get past me either except for nobs. I will miss that more times than not.

I was playing my mom as a child and we counted my hand as a genuine 19. Which is impossible but couldn't find any other points, so at the next family gathering I was showing my uncles how I got there thinking we found something and one immediately says those three 5s are a 15. Crushed my soul.
