I wonder how many KU fans made the trip to Lincoln. That may have helped that attendance figure. I thought our crowd was very good last night. Yes, there were a couple thousand empty seats but I think part of that can be attributed to financial reasons. My place of business had 134 employees 18 months ago and as of right now we have 93. A lot of others in the same boat in central Iowa.

Two good points. I know that I expect to be unemployed, at least by the current employer, by summer. I think that factors into a lot of folks' decisions.

Was the last time against Virginia? I can't remember. That was the game when Stinson went behind the back to Blaylock for a dunk, the replay is shown in the intro video. It also was Pete "Dukes on tv moreeee thannnn Leave it to Beaver reruns" Gillan last season as their coach. They were ranked 19th or something and the place was SOOOO Loud. Has there been one after that?
 
Great job by the crowd last night. The post-game quote by Marquis Gilstrap says a lot: "This was the funnest game I have ever played, our whole team fed off of the crowd." To those that left early -- please don't in the future. The team gave a tremendous effort last night. Even if the game is out of reach we expect them to not give-up so please don't give-up on them and leave early. They deserved to have every fan stay until the very end and then applaud them when the left the court. Again, great job last night but please do not leave early in the future. We're on the verge. Go Cyclones!!!

That's the one I was thinking of, too. I can't remember another one right now.
 
I agree. In the 2nd half with 7 minutes to go we were down 10, Texas had the ball and the crowd didn't even try. Pathetic.

This includes home and away wins. I don't have time to research it but the Michigan game was the NCAA in Minneapolis, the Purdue game was at Purdue, and the Cincinnati game was in the NCAA for sure.

I do know the last home top 10 win at Hilton was the 2/17/01 game against KU. The 2/19/05 win under Wayne Morgan was at KU.

This does not include victories against teams ranked #11 to #25. It does not also include the many "close calls" like two games during the 89-90 season where we lost twice to a #1 Mizzou team 93-95 on 1/31/90 and 95-99 on 2/21/90.

But clearly you can see why the term "Hilton Magic" was coined around 1990 or so and why the "Magic" seems to have waned in the last several years.

Feb. 14, 1989 Vs. Missouri is the official birth date of Hilton Magic.
 
Nothing wrong with the crowd last night, except there could've been about another 2000 there.

Students were solid and out in force - good to see. Rest of the bodies were up often and loud.

Place was empty the final 2:00, which is a bit embarassing. Particularly since it did get slightly intresting in the final :30. 1 more freethrow along the way to get it to 6, and it would've been extremely interesting. Not sure why everyone is in such a hurry to sit in the parking lot for 30 minutes. But I didn't pay for their ticket, so whatever....

You could have just said you decided to look up wins versus top 25 opponents of WM. Just sayin'.
