Technically, an athlete cannot petition for a medical redshirt until they have exhausted their eligibility. As a result, she is officially a senior this fall. There is no good reason why she will not be granted an additional year after the season is completed.

Ott's problem was that he competed in 6 of Iowa's 14 games which is over the 30% limit. It is a shame because he barely played in two of the games.

Signed Drew Ott

Yeah, Ott's thing was in no way similar to Buckley or Naz. That was the idiot media in this state and the idiot Hawk coach who made those comparisons and acted like they should be handled the same way.

They have Claire Ricketts listed as a Junior but note in her bio she has a medical redshirt so she is actually a redshirt-Junior:

2014-15
Saw action in three games for the Cyclones after suffering a season-ending injury in the Cyclones’ season opener against USC Upstate, securing a medical redshirt…scored seven points in 23 minutes of action.

Previously Claire was listed as a redshirt-freshman and then a redshirt-sophomore. All this last season Jadda was referred to as a redshirt-sophomore.

Speaking of Naz, remember when you said he wouldn't get his medical redshirt as well?

Her bio on Cyclones.com states that she played 9 games in the 2014-15 season, was injured and received a medical hardship.

No one, yes, no one, can receive a medical hardship until their eligibility is exhausted. Publicists and sports writers can type whatever they please. They can also be incorrect. farcyted gives excellent advice. That advice is too much work for most people.

Starks is also listed by her technical status instead of her presumed medical redshirt status.

For all practical purposes:
Buckley: redshirt junior (listed as senior)
Ricketts: redshirt sophomore (listed as junior)
Starks: redshirt freshman (listed as sophomore)

Additionally, Bowe is technically a redshirt senior, not just a senior.

My guess is they'll be "fixed" to show the presumed redshirt status sometime before the season starts, since that is typically what teams do whenever a medical redshirt is a rubber-stamp situation. The roster doesn't even have the newcomers yet, so it's definitely a work-in-progress.

The website has been updated to say exactly those statuses.
