obviously she wasn't completely not credible

When you fabricate evidence, whatever else you say isnt credible. Prosecutor seemed to think so. ALJ apparently agreed. Leath would have been wise to do the same.

Re: Bubu back again

Now let's face that this has set a precident. Fred has no say who is on the team, the athlete runs the program now as it seems.

Wonder how this plays out. Does Fred have to play him or is that the next law suit?

Maybe if you had followed the story for the past couple of years, you wouldn't have to wonder?

What? It was not Fred that made the erroneous decision to not allow Bubu on the team in late August after what transpired over the previous 15 months. Fred intentionally renewed Bubu's scholarship this summer instead of keeping Amardi and had Bubu practicing with the team right until Leath flipped a coin- and you think this is a move against Fred? The only precedent here is in how badly Leath and the BoR dropped the ball.

This is another aspect of this I have been wondering about, but I am not going to start a new thread about it, although it might be worthy of one.

If Fred does put Bubu in a game at home, what will be the reaction of the crowd? There have to be some that don't want to see him play, based on JP's statement, but is that the majority?

Also, if Fred plays him in an away game, how will the opposing team's fans react? Do they know about the story, or are they clueless?

If I was Fred, and I wanted to put him in a game, I think I would do it at an away game first. That might temper the eventual reaction at Hilton a bit.

Are you kidding, the kid will be cheered like crazy, as he should be.

JP and Leath on the other hand better be ready for a not so warm reception.

This. I'm trying to think of something else handled so poorly by the ISU administration...Eustachy?

Still thinking maybe we shouldn't be so quick to heap blame on JP. Have you ever heard him talk like that statement? I don't think those were HIS words...

He isn't suing to.get back on the team he is appealing student dicipline using the process outlines by Iowa State for CoC. One of his punishments was being on the team. Because it is being appealed he requested a stay as he did with the BoR. Precedent isn't created when you are following policy!

Ok you win. Guess I'll have to get back to work now.

Leath is JP's boss, but let's not pretend that Leath actually has any power over JP. Same relationship goes with Fred and JP.

JP said what he said because he wanted to say it.

I'm a little surprised they didn't hear it honestly. Not necessarily related to the facts of the case but because of the precedent the lower court ruling could set.

edit: I suppose that could be why they rejected the case, because they didn't want to set a precedent one way or another. The US Supreme Court does that all the time, albeit with far bigger issues.
Also they didn't "decide not to hear it" or reject the case they just denied the BoR request for a stay on the DC Stay order. They have a separate motion before the supreme court to hear the broader appeal because they believe the DC is inappropriately looking at too broad a scope and want to expedite the appeal. Bubu has until the 29th to respond to that motion iirc.

When have you ever heard of a player successfully suing to get placed back on the team? That's pretty much the very definition of precedent isn't it?

Also, is it a crazy premise?
When was the last time a president and a BoR egregiously messed up a player eligibility question? Not many presidents of universities with major athletics go Keystone Cop on such issues.

Seriously? How about the fact that he was booted off the team? Obviously one person found her credible, which pretty much makes it impossible to use the word completely.

Oddly enough, unlike the DA and the judges that were involved prior to last August, that person that "found her credible" to the extent that he removed Bubu from the team...per the records, didn't actually TALK to her...rather, he read transcripts (or his minions did).

ehhh.... yeah didn't think of that.

true. Fred is a player's coach but also wise enough not to start a pi**ing match with his bosses even though he holds 100% of the power and everyone knows it.

What ******* match will Fred have with Pollard or Leath?

Answer: None. Leath and JP would be run out of town if they are the reason the Mayor leaves ISU.

This just doesn't make any sense. Fred NOW has say who is on the team.

What if Bubu admitted to an explicit violation of the student code on those transcripts while defending himself from the other allegation, would Leath be expected to ignore it?
