NFL: Breaking news

And Goodell isn't done yet.... I'm sure there will be player suspensions to follow.

Rams got it worse because they have to find a new coach now. I do like how it follows the coach, unlike calipari running away from the mess

I don't know why Denver traded him. I wouldn't feel real confident with mannings health. He hasn't proved he can play and every sack could make you cringe. Tebow may not have been great, but what are their other backups like.

Because he's useless as a second option. You have to have a completely different offense for him and in the NFL that isn't working. That's not to mention they are paying him first round money when they can go pick up something cheaper that fits better.

I do agree on the Manning point. When the Niners were in the running my hope was that somehow they kept Smith because who knows how long Manning can go.

Inexcusable. Especially the part about going after Kyle Williams because he has a concussion history. Gregg Williams should never be allowed near any level of football competition again.

The part about taking out Crabtree's ACL probably isn't going to be good for him either.

Well I think we've seen the end of Gregg Williams as a coach in the NFL.

Greg Williams Saints Bounty Audio - YouTube

I read the transcript earlier on ESPN.com, and at first I thought maybe it wasn't too bad, and the league might be overreacting. The whole "kill the head and the body will die" metaphor is not particularly damning. But then I got to the part about taking out Crabtree's ACL. That's pretty out of bounds. Especially considering the timing of the league's warning just prior to the game.

Yeah, once he started picking out specific injuries to target, concussions, Vernon Davis' ankle, Crabtree's ACL, he's toast.

is the audio recording how they got caught?

I don't think so, although I don't know for sure. The buzz makes it sound like this could affect the status of Payton and Loomis's appeals with the league. If that were the case, then the league likely didn't know about it.

Yeah it makes it sounds like this is just the nail in the coffin.

My thoughts exactly

gotcha, it was already a long shot but no way he wins his appeal now

I think Williams' indefinate suspension just turned to a lifetime ban. If I were a player that got a concussion while playing a team he coached, I'd be on the phone today with my lawyer setting up a lawsuit.

There was talk of lawsuits awhile ago, seemed over the top to me at the time but this might change that.

I thought some of the things that Gregg Williams said weren't too bad until he started talking about taking out individual people on the 49ers team. I think if he didn't get a lifetime ban from football already then he should get one now from this audio.

How do either Payton or Williams retain a job in the NFL is still amazing to me. I don't like to over react to things, but if they were actively telling their players to hurt other players neither of them should have a job.

Just my opinion.
