Bracketology 2015...

I don't think Palm does a bang-up job, but that's what we deserve right now based on performance.
No real good wins. A verrrrrrry weak noncon schedule. Losses the only times a team had the ability to resist us and play some defense.

We have the potential to win it all, but no performance right now to back it up.

We really aren't "that good" yet. Fans need to realize this. We have the talent to be a 2-4 seed but right now we are not.

Big 12 play will be big for us since our Non-Conference is weak.

ISU has a road win against a team Palm considers a 5 seed, so the non-conference schedule can't be that bad (and he can't use the old "no road wins" as an excuse anymore).

As much as it pains me... No really "bad" losses and two pretty solid wins thus far.

That being said - they could easily go 0-5 the next two weeks.
They aren't losing tonight. Nebby sucks balls.

It's not. I don't know why CycloneErik is being such a sourpuss, but A) our non-con is not verrrry weak, and B) I don't know how destroying Arkansas and Iowa can be overlooked so easily as far as "performances to back it up".

When the noncon is ranked 248th or whatever, that will devalue any accomplishments that might be there.

Arkansas has done nothing since our game, and Iowa isn't very good. Barring some strong developments from those two teams, the highlights of our noncon schedule are not ones that bring the respect we need.

We chose to schedule this way. 7-10 seed is about right based on current performance.

According to one site, which is hardly the be-all-end-all when it comes to assessing SOS. Have you even looked at KenPom's non-con SOS rankings??? If you recognize any of the teams in the Top 50 not named Kansas or North Carolina, I'll buy you a cheeseburger. Hanging your hat on our KenPom ranking to decry our non-confernece schedule is pretty silly.

Arkansas is again a ranked team, and Iowa's #27 with a couple road wins over ranked teams under their belt. Those teams might not be world beaters, but nobody's going to knock us down a few spots for demolishing them.

And a 7-10 seed based on current performance? LOL, that's some of the most pessimistic junk I've ever read.

That was just a reminder of how much the NCAA tourney is about your matchups rather than seeds. Give me that bracket all day, I don't care what seed we are.

No doubt. I realize this isn't popular since we lost a game and all, but that bracket could be kind to ISU

Just admit you're as unhappy with Iowa being a #5 seed as you are approving of us being a #7 seed and I'll move along.

Iowa's a joke, but I can see where a homer like Palm would rank them highly right now, since they've beaten two ranked teams on the road.
Obviously, those teams weren't exactly tearing things up at the time, but I can see it. I wouldn't worry, though. They won't last, and Iowa will drop out completely before long.

Where do the other non conference SOS rankings have us?

5th seed seems like appropriate range.

As for Palm having ISU a 7 — it's no travesty, but seems a little harsh, even given weak end of the schedule. One of two neutral losses is to a 3 seed, a road win over a 5 seed ... but if your bracket has Arkansas as an 11 seed, 7-ish probably makes sense.

Lunardi's Bracketology is often an embarrassment to college basketball analysts. He brags about his accuracy in bracketology, but he's only accurate because he updates his bracketology just an hour or so before the brackets come out.

Plus we got a long way to go.

But you're misinterpreting it if you're taking it as him prediciting what is actually going to happen on selection sunday.

His bracket is strictly based on games that have already been played, nothing more. No predicting. It's what he thinks if Selection Sunday was today.

So if his last bracket is accurate, then the same logic shold still be accurate now, making it a decent snapshot of "as things currently stand."

The non conf was simpler than last year, and we did worse. We did not set the stage on fire during nonconference.

As opposed to discrediting them simply because they're our hated rivals?

Come on, man, just admit that Iowa's halfway decent.

Honestly I feel ok with a 4-seed at this point. It seems fair. I could see us as high as a 2 or as low as a 5 depending on how the rest our B12 slate plays out. Say what you will about this team, but it feels great knowing we are a lock for the tourney at this point. I am enjoying this season like I enjoyed last season, lots of potential and a fun ride.
