Does the NCAA have any policies about same conference teams meeting before Sweet 16?

Great question. I remember reading a few years ago that the 2nd and 3rd rounds, (1st round is considered 1st four currently) that the team is supposed to be “immune” to face ANY team that they had faced in the regular season. Any rounds after that, No. The committee has actually been doing a bang-up job of keeping that word.

We’ve got 2 months before that picture even comes close to being clear. I wouldn’t be too hung up over seeding. Plays somewhat of a role with locality. I really don’t care where we play, more concerned about a better matchup and bracket to be honest.
We didn't matchup well with uconn. The Hawkeyes just shot insane the night we were there. Then they lost vs eastern il. Now they are feasting on the big.
But i don't think we want to matchup with Purdue unless we are shooting 65% overall as an offense. Our d doesn't really work against a 7'4" guy. I haven't studied what Houston or Alabama have for bigs, but I think they are all below 7 ft.

The other key part of potential conference matchups in the NCAA tournament:
Each of the first four teams selected from a conference shall be placed in different regions if they are seeded on the first four lines.

So, taking Lunardi's current outlook, ISU, KU, and UT would all be placed in different regions. One of KSU or Baylor would be in the 4th region.

Paying back Izzo and Michigan State with a de facto "home game" in Des Moines.

I ******* love it.

Gonzaga would be a good draw as the #3 under our #2.

Purdue would be a challenge, but I fear them less than some of the other probable #1 seeds. I want absolutely nothing to do with Houston and Tennessee and probably Kansas.

I tend to not worry about potential Elite 8 matchups when a bracket comes out unless there is a team like that Anthony Davis Kentucky team who is so obviously the best team in the country.

1) You are in the Elite 8 playing for a regional title and trip to the Final Four. That game is going to be tough at that point.

2) Seeds rarely go as planned so someone could knock off the 1 seed before you get to that point.

My main goal is get in the field because we’ve seen that’s all that truly matters if you click during those few weeks. But for seeding purposes as long as we are the opposite side of the bracket to the 1 seed I am perfectly happy.

Related to the bracket. Can someone explain to me how Saint Mary's is #7 in the NET rankings? Honest question.

That would require staying on the #2 or #3 line.

...which would be great! That's an 11- or 12-win Big 12 slate.

I can't pinpoint how SMC NET is that high, for now I chalk it up to being an outlier. Currently would be somewhere in 6 to 8 seed range, despite the top 10 rank. Someone with more knowledge of the fine print with NET evaluation may be able to answer. (I think I saw an explanation in this or the MBB thread a day or two ago, can't recall who)
