Why are people rooting against Cincinnati? Anything that drags down the SEC is for the best.
Ending the G5 narrative trumps worrying about a third tier SEC team winning or not.Why are people rooting against Cincinnati? Anything that drags down the SEC is for the best.
Probably bc the talking heads were pumping up Cincinnati over us.
Not just the talking heads. Go on a place like r/cfb and it was constant hate for our ranking and how Cincy\Coastal deserved to be above us.
I assume it's purely out of annoyance and how whiny they were at us being ranked ahead of them.
Does Georgia go for two again?
Nah it’s the SEC, they can get spotted points on demand.Don't they have to score, first?
I’ve been pondering the opt out question. I know a lot of blame is pointed to the playoffs, but I wonder if it is a side effect of the tv contracts?
before the current tv contracts, not every game was televised. this Message board has thoroughly discussed the decline of Nebraska in relation to not being the only team on tv, along with other reasons.
I remember not too many years ago how big of a deal it was for ISU to be televised.
bowl games were a rare chance where teams were guaranteed to be televised, making it a little more important for the teams and players individually.
now every game is televised and given the bowl treatment, so the bowls don’t really matter as it truly is just another game, against a non conference team, making it mean even less.
I think the only way to change a mentality is to expand the playoffs and make those bowl games actually mean something.
I don’t know, just spitballing
IMO they had reason to be upset about dropping when not playing. I don't remember many if any of the B10 schools dropping in rankings when they didn't play for the first 4 weeks.
Indiana is the one I want to see lose by 30.
I said it before I think in this thread, but the way to do it in my mind is to ban players that opt out from participating in on campus pro days or using school resources to prepare for the combine/draft. If a guy wants to be done early, completely cut the cord and let them prepare on their own. Make this a blanket NCAA rule to prevent recruiting backlash.

Why would you burn a bridge to potential future donation dollars like that?
I think he is talking NCAA rules in general.. say that if some one declares for the draft then they are no longer a student athlete for the school so why should they have access to the facilities...Why would you burn a bridge to potential future donation dollars like that?
They're burning a bridge for future bowl dollars by making them irrelevant with the opt outs. But also that's why this would need to come from the NCAA, not the schools to prevent a backlash.
