***Bowl Games Thread***

If Ehlinger comes back, I’m not sure he’ll keep his starting spot. Thompson is looking really good.

I don't know if Thompson was even the plan. The Cards guy was supposed to be the future. Might be a QB controversy even if Ehlinger leaves. Texas fans should be nervously looking at the transfer portal this week. They are going to have a lot of talent sitting on the bench one way or another next year.

Thompson was in the portal last year and Hermy talked him out of it.

Is this the year that the Big10 goes 0-fer in bowls? And BTW, only 4 bowl games for Big10 teams? Way to hide your piss poor teams from public.

Nah. That leads to their fans to speculate about what would have happened.
I remember a colleague saying that Sparty and Herky just 'performed bad' that year MSU was in the CFP and Stanford practiced in the Rose Bowl. It's hard for them to see it any other way.

Like, Oklahoma wasn't very good last year, or really the year before, hence their beatdowns. It's not that hard.

The one thing Texas has done in the Herman era is play very well in Bowl games.
If people haven't listened to CW and Rob on the podcast this week they should. They talk about the mystique around the Texas program that really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Look Texas is a good to very good football team in many years. But they have rarely ever been elite on a consistent basis. Mack Brown made them into something that started to resemble what could become a dynasty with his Vince Young/Colt McCoy years, but that's actually the outlier.

Isn't CW one who every year buys into and says that Texas is 'back' or 'for real' though or is that someone else?

Otherwise they were at their best in the 60s/70s and 2000s.

Alabama was like that in the 80s/90s early 2000s. Clemson wasn't all that until the last 5 years. USC was like that in the 90's and now. All Texas needs is a Nick Saban or Urban Meyer type coach. Who will that be? Will they ever find him? Who knows. But if they do, look out Big 12/Nation.

Clemson won't have their OC/Play Caller vs Ohio State

WF qb is having a really bad day. Two terrible interceptions and he has missed several long balls where guys were wide open.

That's the trick with Texas though, they have had spurts of true success, but Alabama, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State have had longer overall stretches of elite football (national titles, conference titles, CFP/BCS -level appearances, etc.). Texas has to be willing to let a coach try and find their groove instead of the big donors controlling everything. There are many things with the Texas culture that won't allow them to reach that Oklahoma, Bama, Ohio State level.

This Wake Forest QB is just killing any chance they have in this game with two horrendous picks. They have been the better team aside from those two boneheaded plays.
