There was an old board called FansOnly, and then I believe the Rivals board was around (and free) back then.

Rivals was Cyclone Illustrated back then as they tried transitioning to internet. Took their charter flight to Waco to watch the MBB clinch the conference title. Met a bunch of folks on the flight I only knew from the message board.

Do not want to play NC State. They aren't a big name but they have a great team.

Intriguing match up though. They are having a very similar year in the ACC that we are having here.
I agree. We played them in the 1977 Peach Bowl and that did not turn out well (I was there). While their fans were "Southern nice" they were condescending and gave the impression that they thought all Iowans were farmers (that's not a bad thing, just not true).

I’m kinda hoping to play a big name SEC team that struggled like Ole Miss, LSU, or South Carolina, a team that we never get to play or never used to play.

IMO, the Alamo Bowl would be a good bowl game. I don’t understand the love for the Liberty Bowl here.

If we get to 8 wins I don't see us in the Liberty Bowl
Isn’t the Liberty Bowl 4th in the pecking order? If so we definitely could. Heart of Dallas and Cactus bowl are below the Liberty. The Liberty is a little better now than when we played Tulsa as a 6-6 team in 2012.

Would be kind of a disappointing finish to the season if we end up in the Liberty Bowl

Not super excited about this either but @aauummm 's post on the Peach Bowl reminded me of the Liberty Bowl of 1972. We lost 31-30 to Georgia Tech but other than the 2000 Insight it was the best bowl game we have played. Super fun and entertaining game to watch. We went for two and the win with around a minute left but failed. No OT back then and Majors wasn't taking a tie. We had a 23-23 tie with Nebraska that season and I guess one tie was enough.

Here are the 2017-18 Bowls for the Big 12 (contracted with each bowl):
Listed by the committee's selection order.

#1: Automatic for the Big 12 Champ
#2: Alamo Dec 28th San Antonio
#3: Camping World Dec 28th Orlando
#4: Texas Dec 27 Houston
#5: Liberty Dec 30 Memphis
#6: Cactus Dec 26th Phoenix
#7: Dallas Dec 26 Dallas

However, if the Big 12 gets two teams into the CFP/New Years Six games then all bowls move down a notch. For example, the Alamo Bowl would then get the third selection instead of the second selection.

The Texas Bowl is intriguing would be a good SEC opponent...anybody know if there are rules on team selection like if we finish 8-4 can they take a 6-6 Texas team over us?

Orlando? Watch your step, Florida is covered in pythons, 100s of thousands. They range as far north as Pensacola, reports National Geographic magazine.

Off-topic, but I like when scientists pronounce it "PITH-on."

Similar with "ZEBB-rah."

And, as Attenborough would say, "The Po-lah Beah."
