Can someone explain Memphis' situation and other bowl options? If they have other options, I can't understand why that school or its conference would want to celebrate a great season by playing a bowl game in their home stadium.

Washington and Alabama really benefitted from not having a 13th data point. Why didn’t Okie St? Teams in P5 conference championships should be guaranteed a NY6 bowl for protection for those teams that lose (TCU). Otherwise, get rid of the conference championships.
