Bowen Born

does sounds like he’s impacting team in other ways

I would have been find taking him if he saw his role as half-de facto walk-on to help make the team better in practice and half-de facto GA who is maybe using this experience as a transition into coaching.

But those saying we needed him to play, not serve in a support role, got some 'splainin' to do.

At least we didn't take Buggs.

Woof.

He has played 25% of their minutes in three games... and has literally not made a shot.

THIRTY minutes of game time and... nothin'.

Agree. In all fairness I don’t think a lot on here wanted bugs. He just seemed like a warm body to me that could not do much. If he was a freshman with upside I would have got it

yeah as a team our three point shooters Can’t shoot over 30
Percent but we don’t want a guy shooting over 45 percent from three. Sure he may get a little lost in the offense and defense right now. Covid year and he is a freshman. Most freshman are lost to start the season.
Born shoots 37.9% from 3

Those mocking Buggs here are again missing the point with him which is who would provide more value to ISU, Buggs or Harris. It is becoming apparent that Harris is best suited as an off the bench shooter (who can be exploited defensively) whereas Buggs can facilitate offense and provides better defense, both of which are greater areas of need to the ISU roster.

What did we shoot from 3 against SDSU again? Harris was a part of that but he has a decent record to fall back on. This is 2020. YOU HAVE TO HAVE 3 PT SHOOTING. Should be the #1 thing in every whiteboard in every recruiting office in the country.

So much this.... being competent from deep opens the floor up for the dribble drive, feeding the post and just flow on offense. If you can’t hit threes, teams back away from the three point line and pack it in the lane and the offensive game gets so much tougher at that point.

Whatever 3 pt shooting he offers (which is limited with his height and low release point) will be offset by his defense and his lack of offensive playmaking. APB and SDSU both exploited matchups against him and that will likely increase against better teams on the upcoming schedule.

lol arguing for a guy who is 0/5 from the field in 30 minutes of play against #196, #22, and #89 on BT

Athletic black guys who are turnstiles on defense and can't shoot are better....?

LOL I had one of those guys in men's league, he had a really cool looking move to the lane that worked really well, but then he'd miss the lay up 80% of the time. He really wasn't that good of ball player but he was a nice guy, just couldn't hit a shot.

LOL at a poster who is clearly clueless regarding Mizzou's roster needs/quality vs ISU's.

Yea....... a difference maker for ISU would be a guy who is shooting 0-4 from 3pt line and 0 free throw shots in 30 minutes of game action. His other stats are 3 rebounds, 4 assist, 1 turnover & 3 fouls.

Harris is a better fit for ISU. He can put pressure on the ball handler with his quickness and has shot 5-13 from 3pt range after 2 games. The reality is Bolton is our primary ball handler and Harris can play off the ball and contribute.

If Buggs came to ISU Bolton would still be our primary ball handler. Buggs playing off the ball is a bad fit. Opposing teams would drop off him taking away Bolton or Coleman-Lands driving AND allow opponents to double up on Solo.

Buggs might be a great fit at Mizzou. He would have been a bad fit at ISU under CSP.

The reality is that Prohm failed to address the PG need during 2020 fall and spring recruiting. The team would be much better off with Bolton not being the primary ball handler. Prohm signing a 5-9 SG like Harris (and a defensive liability) instead of other options was mind boggling and another potential recruiting miss that may eventually get him fired. There was a reason why he was run off by Memphis.

You are sold after seeing just 2 games from Harris in an ISU uniform, huh? Not sure how many Buggs has played, but guessing not many more.

How'd Born do tonight vs the Spiders?

OK one and only time I'll bump this thread maybe this will get it closed

Actually he played pretty well, the ball just didn't go in the bucket.

Zero turnovers against the active NCAA career steals leader in 36 minutes as the only ball handler on the floor.
