Blowout loss to Baylor, Rhoads fired?

Our AD doesn't have $5 mil laying around. That's what it will cost plus we will be hiring a new staff. Unless Leath wants to pony up and/or we have some donors to help then CPR will be back.
I believe there is a better chance of this if we get blown out in a week by Texas on homecoming...... Baylor this week, not so much, that is expected.....
If 5000 season ticket holders don't renew a pair of tickets, even if they keep their donations the same, that adds up to $4.5 million, so do we lose that money in a buyout, or from season ticket sales? If I were in charge, I'd opt for the plan that moves the program forward.
Fair enough. I just see no way a change is no made/forced this off-season. Even if JP told CPR his job is fine, there is no way CPR and JP don't realize that a change may be forced from the top. Leath seems like a guy who likes thing to be run a certain way, and I find it impossible to believe he continues to be OK with support falling off.

Yep. And when the donation came in for the SEZ, behind the scenes that tied the athletic department even tighter to the President's office. There's a reason they kept calling it "The front door to Iowa State University", and it wasn't because they were looking forward to wiping poo all over their front door and then inviting folks over for lunch.
I think you make immediate firings for results that aren't predicted to occur. Not for ones that happen as everyone expects.

If you were to fire Rhoads mid-season, who would you elevate to head coach? Do you think any of the other in-house candidates would do anything to improve the situation? Can you separate their performance from Rhoads for the lack of on-the-field results to show there is basis to believe the team will get a few more wins?
The only reason I am in favor of it is because if you wait until he end of the season, this entire staff is gone. What if Mangino is the answer? What if Mangino wins 4 of the last 5 games? We'll never know.
Worst thing that happens is we continue to lose, and the interim coach is let go at seasons end, which will be the same result if CPR stays.
Even though I think he couldn't change that much, but maybe MM. Maybe even throw in Ayeni
I keep thinking that JP will keep CPR around next year but then I looked back at McCarney. I forgot that in Mac's last two years the team was 11-13. Looking back it seems like the team was so bad and everyone was calling for Mac's head. I can't imagine keeping a coach that is 4-20 over the last 2 years.

Rhoads won't be fired for something that is expected. However, the fact that it's expected in the first place deserves firing.
